Smash Wii U Advice on getting used to a new controller?

Specifically, the GameCube controller. I've been using the GamePad ever since I got the game, and today my Wii U GameCube adapter came in. I got the adapter for the purpose of using it in offline tournaments, since I've heard the GamePad is illegal since only one can be connected to the system at a time. I started playing around with my new controller, and so far I find it really uncomfortable to use. It feels clunky, it's really small, the buttons are loud and big, and it's weird not having a display right in the middle...

Does anyone have any tips, experiences, or success stories to share about switching to a new controller? Thanks!

As a side question, what's the best way to clean a GameCube controller? I noticed my buttons stick sometimes.

Keep using it for a while. And then you will get used to it.
Get a clean cloth a damp it with minor water, and then polish the stick.

Try using official Nintendo GameCube controllers.
As far as getting used to them, just use it for like 4 hours straight and you'll be used to it in no time. Don't hurt yourself.

Success story- my friend started using a GameCube controller, after about 3 days of using it (~3 hours a day), no one could tell that he had just started using it.

Good luck

Thank you for the replies! It seems like the best thing to do is to just keep doing it... which can go for a lot of things in Smash, heh. I'll try the things you recommended. ^_^

I'm actually using an original GameCube controller; I found it lying around in my bedroom closet. :p
