Has anyone seen any ads for Brawl yet? There was a rumor when the latest delay occurred that they wanted the extra time partially because they wanted more time to create ads. Whether or not the rumor is true isn't the point, the point of this post is because of Nintendo's track record when it comes to advertising Wii products here in the states.
Obviously they pushed the game very hard in Japan yet I don't see them pushing harder then the "We would like to play" ad (I say ad because there is usually only one). Granted we will also get online ad banners but that isn't going to convince gamers who don't visit gaming websites will it?

So what do we expect of Nintendo? Its a little over a month untill the U.S. release and they haven't started a hype train yet. Will we see tv ad(s) that will convince someone to buy Brawl that may not be swayed by the "We would like to play" advertisements? Will there even be a vigorous advertisement campaign at all? Only time will tell but if what we saw of SMG's and especially MP3:C's campaigns, the outlook isn't good...

They really don't need ads very early at this point.

The preorders are already huge and the game has a ton of hype. It'll sell well on day 1 and word of mouth will probably carry it after that.

They wouldn't dare use the "Wii would like to play" campaign on such a great game...
Isn't that all the Wii's gotten from the day it's come out in the US >>

Pretty much, I can't recall anything that Nintendo has published that used a different kind of ad.
And I have no faith in word of mouth, that didn't turn out to good for Prime3. I don't doupt this game will do great, its just a shame Nintendo can't/won't push their games very hard anywhere else but Japan.

I'm still crossing my fingers that Nintendo will bust out their old Smash Bros 64 commercial for Brawl. An updated "mascot" commercial would get me so much more pumped for the game!

Wii would like to play:

Wii Play
Wii Sports
Wario Ware Smooth Moves
Mario Strikers Charged
Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
Super Mario Galaxy
Mario Party 8
Excite Truck
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Rayman Raving Rabids

EVERY SINGLE ONE of these games got 'Wii Would Like to Play". Brawl will also.

I heard that Brawl got Delayed because the Japanese Mafia wanted to put subliminal Mind-Control rays in it, just like the Chinpokomon.

Wasn't the Brawl ad in Japan different than those for other Wii games? Then again Nintendo of America would make the ads for the US wouldn't they, crap.

Hope for the best I guess, I have to say one of the Metroid Prime trailers that didn't get cut as a commercial was pretty epic...

Here is to hoping it's good regardless of whether it's one of those Wii would like to play ads. Also expect online advertisements like flash ads on gaming sites and such, and possible posters and banners at stores.

Prime 3 didn't have online mode. The game was excellent and the controls were revolutionary... but honestly it was the third iteration in a moderately popular series. It didn't have a ton of appeal outside of hardcore Metroid fans and although it was great, didn't have a lot of things to convince people to try it other than its controls.

Seriously, the word of mouth thing works a lot better for multiplayer games.

I suppose you're right about word of mouth being better when a game has online but it still saddens me that Nintendo probibly won't push this game like they did in Japan. Its no secret that a game will sell with more people knowing about it. I'm sure there will be people who might buy it if they knew about it but don't have friends that play or go on online game sites.
