We all know about the childish assetry that is the story mode getting the boot in Smash 4, and as such everyone is wondering what the **** we're going to have for our single player modes and such. Considering the Yellow Devil tease everyones been confused about wtf boss battles would even have a place in. To me this can only point to one thing: a revamped and u-hauled Adventure Mode the likes of which we've seen only in Melee. Personally, this idea makes for much better progression and presentation than Subspace simply because, like in Melee, the Adventure Mode brings together locales actually FROM featured series' (and maybe from some unrep'd series'), enemies and such actually from those series', and new to the mode would be boss battles as well. Ive also heard the idea they may have different character endings which would be an incentive to play with all of the characters.

What do you think about this direction? What kind of representation would you like to see for each series? What unique bosses would you want to see for each series? Would you want it to be co-op or strictly single-player?

I definitely think we're overdue a finished Melee-style Adventure Mode. In SSBM only about half the stages were more than just glorified matches. & most of those were far too short. Mushroom Kingdom & Underground Maze were the only 2 fully fleshed out stages. A new Adventure Mode where all of the levels are like those 2 would be awesome.

Now the question is: Will this be in Wii U version, 3DS version or both?

I honestly believe that it will be a glorified Adventure Mode from Melee. Is that a bad thing? No. I actually thoroughly enjoyed Adventure Mode. I wouldn't mind seeing some different challenges or mini-games, especially those "sponsored" by characters that didn't make it in the game. This is also what Boss Battles would entail. For instance, if K. Rool or Black Shadow didn't make it in the game over likelier candidates like Dixie or Goroh, they could be Boss Battles. Yellow Devil might indicate that we get Dr. Robotnik for Sonic. I wouldn't mind a Tingle mini-game if he didn't make the Final cut. Or maybe cameos. If Toad didn't make it in the game, a cameo might be neat.

It would be cool to have a platformer stage with Mother series enemies and a fight with the Kraken at the end. Or maybe the boss could be the Mani-Mani Statue? Or they could make it obvious and put Giygas as the boss.

I think it could be like that and at the same time have a story even withoout the use of utscenes.
Have you noticed it's such Megaman gonna fight the Yellow Devil? Maybe some locations require specific characters to access. And so they are going to fight their arch rival bosses.

I like this idea. I would be happy with this.

I've stated my ideas elsewhere, and I'll say it again. I would like a more robust Adventure Mode myself. Barebones at first with only stages from unlocked franchises available, but as you unlock characters and/or stages/assist trophies... Well.. more areas are able to be cycled in for a new experience each run. Even make it a combined Event and Adventure mode right? Have Event Mode battles crafted specifically for each character, and as you discover these battles, have them added to the special category under Events or something for the replayability. Heck. Make these special events hard to access as a new way to earn characters, rather than just giving them to us for free like in SSE. I would have preferred it that way actually.

I think every character goes through the same levels and then at the end every character has his or her own specific boss battle and then once you complete it with every character you unlock boss battle mode.

That assumes only the playable characters's franchises are involved. But Nintendo is large and some homage even to other nintendo franchises is welcome.

THIS. That'd be a good way to pay homage to some of the things that can't be represented by a character at the least.

I like this idea, except I would like to be able to play on a certain level whenever I wanted, if ever I did not feel like playing through the entire campaign. And, like others, I would also like the campaign to consist more of lengthy, fleshed-out stages rather than regular matches.

Though I doubt it will happen, I would like Wart from Super Mario Bros. 2 and his army to appear as enemies. I would also love to have Grima from Fire Emblem: Awakening as a boss.

I think they should definitely keep co-op play as an option--if anything, it will be one more way for players to enjoy the game.

I dunno! "No cutscenes" is something Sakurai was pretty specific about. Thought I'm still hoping he was bluffing.
But if he's trading that for more in-game content (like an interactive like the ones in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, plus a metroidvania gameplay) I would be happier.

Wouldn't the Ice Climbers level technically count as "fleshed out"? Seeing as you were climbing the mountain and fighting off their enemies before running into the Ice Climbers.

Anyway, i think the only characters who wouldn't have full levels dedicated to their respective worlds are ROB and Mr. Game & Watch. (Because they both technically don't have worlds. ROB never physically existed in his two games and Game & Watch games aren't really worlds)

That would be an iteresting challenge for the authors.

I would like to see how they'd make the Pokemon level in Adventure mode.
Hmm, perhaps they could have the player traverse a route of one of the Pokémon regions. Throughout the level would be trainers both on the stage and in the background. If you come into their line of vision, they will throw out a Pokéball containing one of the playable Pokémon characters, and you will forced to fight, unable to progress any further until you have defeated that Pokémon. The player can either avoid being spotted, or be rewarded for defeating the trainers' Pokémon. At the end of the stage, you fight a legendary Pokémon as a boss (mine preferred Pokémon boss would have to be Kyurem).

So we might have gotten a peak at the Mario section of Adventure mode. However, it could just be a scrolling Mario stage.

If those cubes are spinning it's a goddamn ****ed up stage then.
If only there was a display telling us if it's from the adventure mode or not! Sakurai is such a teasing troll.

I just looked at the Mario 3D Land stage and back at the current image. They look like they might be connected. (the rock, in the background of the pic of the day, thats in the water is in the background of the current 3D Land stage)

I agree with this. It never hit me until I read this how few actual stages there were.

I do imagine that something along the lines of a revamped adventure mode would replace the Subspace mode from brawl. I'm okay with that, especially if we get stages that represent the series many of the character hail from. Fighting their enemies and such. Perhaps we can even get Megaman and Sonic stages too.

I have the feeling the stages will be canonical (grass, sea, desert, ice, lava, sky, space..) but with enemies and elements from each franchise.

Created an Adventure mode:

Stage 1 - Mushroom Kingdom

It starts like Melee's but with more enemy variety. There are Goombas, Paragoombas, Koopas (Green and Red), Parakoopas (Green and Red, both flying and jumping), Spinys and there's one Lakitu that starts following you at a point. You then enter a pipe and gets in a cave. There are the same enemies here, but Goombas are blue, and there are Buzzy Beetles and Cannons shooting Bullet Bills. Then you get out of the cave with another pipe and enter Bowser's Castle. Now there are Dry Bones, Podoboos and Firebars. You also get damaged by falling in the lava. At the end you fight one of these posibilities:

Mario
Luigi
Peach
Bowser
Toad
Dr. Mario
Mario + Luigi
Mario + Peach
Mario + Toad
Luigi + Peach
Luigi + Toad
Luigi + Dr. Mario
Peach + Toad
Peach + Dr. Mario
Toad + Dr. Mario
Mario + Luigi + Peach
Mario + Peach + Toad
Mario + Luigi + Toad
Dr. Mario + Luigi + Peach
Dr. Mario + Peach + Toad
Dr. Mario + Luigi + Toad

Stage 2 - Green Greens

A Kirby stage. There are Waddle Dees, Waddle Doos, and Bronto Burts. At the middle of the stage, there's a fight with team Kirby, a team consisting of 10 Kirbys each with a copied ability of some playable character. You then play more and when you get to the end you must fight one of these posibilities:

Kirby
Meta Knight
King Dedede
Kirby + Meta Knight
Kirby + King Dedede
Meta Knight + King Dedede
Kirby + Meta Knight + King Dedede

Stage 3 - Hyrule

This stage plays old-school Zelda style, with top-view. You still have damage percentages, gets knocked back and everything you would expect in Smash, however. There are Octoroks, Redeads, Like Likes and other enemies. At a point you enter a dungeon and must solve puzzles. At the end you must fight one of these posibilities:

Link
Link + Zelda / Sheik
Link + Toon Link
Zelda / Sheik
Zelda / Sheik + Toon Link
Ganondorf
Link + Zelda / Sheik + Toon Link

Stage 4 - Yoshi's Island

A stage with Yoshi enemies like Shy Guys and some Mario enemies like Piranha Plants. At the middle of the stage, there's a fight with 9 super light Yoshis plus a giant Yoshi.

Stage 5 - Corneria

In this stage you are aways inside an Airwing. You can shoot with the attack button and fly. Wolfens fly in and try to shoot you. At the end you get out of your Airwing and must fight either one of these posibilities at the Corneria stage:

Fox
Falco
Wolf
Fox + Falco

Stage 6 - Brinstar

A stage with hot acid that damages you. There are Metroid enemies here. At the end, you must fight either Samus, Zero Suit Samus or Ridley. If you find a secret exit, you must escape via the Brinstar Scape Shaft. If you don't escape it fast enough, you lose a live. If you escape fast enough, you will see a strange portal. Enter it and you go to a secret stage.

Secret Stage - Super Flat World Arena

Here, you must fight Mr. Game and Watch. Defeat him to unlock him. I made this a secret stage because the only character from the series is unlockable, so it won't be spoiled to you if you don't find this exit.

Stage 7 - Archanea

A stage from Fire Emblem. Each time you encounter an enemy, you fight with him in a turn-based battle. He attacks, then you use one of your character's moves. At the end you fight either Marth, Ike or Chrom.

Stage 8 - Kanto

This Pokémon-themed stage features common Pokémon as enemies. If a trainer spots you, he sends one of the playable Pokémon (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, Mudkip, Grovyle, Blaziken, Meowth or Lucario) (except for Mewtwo) and you must defeat the Pokémon. You then get to Cerulean cave. The enemy Pokémon are more powerful here. At the end, you fight Mewtwo. If you find a secret exit, Mewtwo appears and transforms into Mega Mewtwo X / Mega Mewtwo Y and you must defeat him. A portal then appears, and if you enter it, you get to a secret stage.

Secret Stage 2 - Retro Place

A stage where you must climb a mountain and then fight the Ice Climbers. Then, your character is sent to a Ballon Fight stage and must defeat the enemies Ballon Fight-style, then fight Ballon Fighter in a normal battle. You then get sent to an arena to fight Takamaru. After this, R.O.B. appears, and defeating him makes him playable. This was made a secret stage because R.O.B. is the only character of his series and he is unlockable.

Stage 9 - Onett

You must go trought Onett fighting Runaway Dogs, Coil Snakes and Spiteful Crows. At the end you fight either Ninten, Ness or Lucas.

Stage 10 - Kongo Jungle

A stage where you must get to the end fighting Donkey Kong enemies. You find Rambi at a point and you may ride him. At the end you fight one of these possibilities:

DK
Diddy
Dixie
K. Rool
DK + Diddy
DK + Dixie
Diddy + Dixie
DK + Diddy + Dixie

Stage 11 - Pikmin Planet

You must get to the end fighting Pikmin enemies. At the end you fight Olimar.

Stage 12 - Skyworld

You must get to the end fighting Kid Icarus enemies. At the end you fight Pit, Palutena or both. If you find a secret portal, you get sent to a secret stage:

Secret Stage 3 - Third Party Stage

You must choose between the Metal Gear stage, the Sonic stage, the Megaman stage or the Pacman stage. You must get to the end of the stage fighting enemies from the series you choose and at the end you must fight Snake, Sonic, Megaman or Pacman depending what you have chosen before. Defeating the character unlocks it. Again, this was done because all these characters are the only ones of their series.

Stage 13 - Miscelaneous series

You must first get to the end of Smashville within the time limit while avoid the villagers, then fight the playable Villager. Then you get sent to the Wii Fit stage and must mimic Wii Fit Trainer's actions, then defeat her. Then, you must fight Mii. It will have the appearance of a random Mii from your console.

Stage 14 - The Final Fight

You must first win a 50-man Brawl. Then you fight Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Then Adventure mode ends.

Note: Some characters such as Mewtwo and Dr. Mario are unlockable, and may only be fought if unlocked. Below are the unlockable characters:

Dr. Mario
King K. Rool
Ganondorf
Toon Link
Ridley
Falco
Wolf
Lucario
Mewtwo
Ninten
Ike
R.O.B.
Mr. Game and Watch
Sonic
Snake
Pacman
Megaman

These unlockables, however, are fought even if not unlocked because defeating them is one of the ways to unlock them:

Mr. Game and Watch
R.O.B.
Sonic
Snake
Megaman
Pacman

I did not add bosses becase my "Perfect Smash Bros. Game" would have a story mode, and bosses would be used in it.

This gif could be inspirational.
I'd like a quest mode which shows that all the nintendo's universe are connected.
Something between Melee's Adventure Mode and SSE's Great Labirith (seriously: all the SSE should have been like that!).

What I would like to see from an Adventure Mode is not a string of levels you run through, like Melee had, but instead have individualized stages you could choose from on a Stage Select screen. Each stage would have a length comparable to an average SSE level and would of course tie into a specific game world. 3 stages would be unlocked from the start, and others would be revealed as levels are beaten and characters are earned. You would earn rewards for beating a single stage with all the characters and beating all the stages with a single character.

This would free up the mode to contain a higher number and greater variety of stages, since you wouldn't have to worry about players having to beat all the stages in one go. You could have both a Mushroom Kingdom Stage and a Mario Galaxy stage (or even a Haunted Mansion stage) without fear of overlap. And this means stages can be longer and more complex without the player suffering burnout as well.

Now you made me think, Both Adventure's Melee and SSE had an arcade stage structure. That's the only element they had in common.
How about a RPG/Adventure structure this time? Something like Battle Of Olimpus:
But with more intense fight elements.
