Hello everyone.

I have been practicing Melee a lot with a friend who coaches me (EC, a Luigi main in Montreal). He has been wrecking me over and over for many months now. He can pick almost any characters in the roster and destroy me (except for his Link and his Shiek). He told me that I need to be more mobile, that I needed to be able to go anywhere I wanted. Being a low tier main, the ability to be wherever you want and to be able to analyse an opponent is of utmost importance, since I don't have as many options as higher tier mains does.

I have been looking all over youtube for some videos that explains advanced movement options. So I figured I should ask this question to the root of the Smash community, here on SmashBoards.

Here is a list of simple techs I am comfortable with:

L-Cancelling
Dashdancing
Moonwalking
Wavedashing
Wavelanding
Spin hogging (Links only)
Tech
Bomb dashing (Links only)
Bomb teching (Links only)
Bomb jump (Link only)
Dash Cancelling
Crouch Cancelling

I am having a lot of trouble repeating shield drops, though I am practicing these as I write this. EC showed me ways to move freely through platforms. I will write the input here. Imagine Link below the left platform on Yoshi's Story.

Jump -> Waveland onto platform -> Walk -> Drop
Jump -> Waveland onto platform -> Dash -> Shield drop

This can be used as a feint for many followups.

Example:

Jump -> Waveland -> Dash -> Dash cancel -> Down Smash
Jump -> Waveland -> Dash dance-> Shield drop -> Uair (or any other aerial attack depending on situation)
Jump -> Waveland -> Pivot -> Grab

Do you guys have any other tricks for moving?
Please, share your strategies!
