Additional Stages Howto

Sorry if this is clutter here, but could someone point me to a guide, or explain here, how to add additional stages. I understand that it has something to do with the .gct file, and I have a basic understanding of BrawlStageManager and SSSEditor. I would like to add some alt stages and some original. Is there a way to do this, and put it all on the SSS, or have I gotten this completely backwards? Any help is appreciated.
