Adding opponents?

Is there absolutely no way to friend random people that you play against in Glory Mode? I know there's the Who WAS that thread which leads me to believe this is true, but I figured I should ask just to make sure. I live in Japan so I highly doubt I'll be able to find the people I play against on this site. I was hoping there was some way I could possibly add Glory Mode opponents or something because some of them would make amazing sparring partners.

Nintendo is honestly still kinda new to this online thing. I wont be surprised if they make a patch to incorparate it in at some point.
