I've been looking for a really good way to play my video game consoles using my laptop screen, as I'm assuming I will lack a TV when I move into my dorm during college. I came across the Adaptec Gamebridge ( http://www.amazon.com/Gamebridge-AV...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1210913628&sr=8-1 ) and it looks really solid. Almost all of the reviews I've seen for it have been positive, so I found and bought one on Ebay (paid a premium for it, but not nearly as much as it's going for on Amazon.).

I'm just wondering if anyone here has one and if so how they like it.

I actually did the same thing just last year. Bought a GameBridge to play my Wii in my room for my college apartment.

Gamebridges are GREAT for recording games, if you use 'em right. (Using A/V splitters, as to view the picture on your TV and on the computer screen.) But if you plan on playing directly on your laptop, I wouldn't recommend it. It's super laggy when it comes to fast games, such as smash. Slow paced games, ie turn based RPG's, or something like Zelda, are fine on it. Competitive stuff doesn't work out well at all.

From what I've read though, it's hit and miss with the lag. I've got a fairly speedy computer (2.4GHz Core 2 Duo) and it's only asking for a 1.2 GHz Pentium 3, I believe. I'm just not sure, because alot of reviews I've read on it are saying that's there absolutely no lag whatsoever (or no appreciable lag, anyway). It's good to get another opinion on it though, thanks.

Eh. The lag is only noticeable, like I said, during fast paced games like Smash. It connects through USB, so no matter how good your computer is, there'll be lag since It's not connected directly into your monitor.

I just got it in the mail today, and I loaded it up on the XP partition of my Macbook, and it works beautifully. I 'm not seeing any lag at all, and I've already booted up Metroid Prime: Corruption and a couple of VC games. If responsiveness is taking a hit at all, I'm just not seeing it.

Haven't tried recording though, I've gotta give that a shot.
