Why is it never suggested to bump up the damage ratio for faster kills? Genuinely curious why this was never considered or why it's not a good idea. Maybe even just to like 1.1 of 1.2. Not that I'm wanting to do such a thing, just curious.

I feel that the KO percent is fine as is, but Im sure people will learn how to kill faster as the metagame develops.

Simply: because doing that reduces combos, followups, makes the game go into neutral more often and can actually EXTEND the length of the game because of it.

Also, KO percents are pretty fine for this game. Tournament average time per stock is between 1:30 and 1:42 which is perfectly acceptable considering the kills will come slowest when the metagame is least developed. I think average melee stock time is about 55 seconds? Don't quote me on that.

From what Ive seen (and this is under the assumption both players win a game, then the 3rd game decides int in a best 2 out of 3) 4-stock sets in Melee (10-12ish minutes average?) are usually shorter than 3-stock sets in SSB4 (14-15ish minutes average?), from what Ive seen, and 2-stock sets in SSB4 (9-11ish average?) are usually a bit shorter or pretty much the same as Melee 4stock sets.

So that sounds accurate enough

Another thing is that it doesn't increase the game speed, and can result in defensive play due to higher risk.

I personally like the 2stock5min ruleset for earlier matches and 3/8 for later matches in tournaments and whatnot (especially on the 3DS version where you can easily do Swiss pools), since that lets the "lower" matches go faster while leaving plenty of hype for the big fights. Also, maybe it's just me, but I feel like blast zones are closer on the U version than they were on the 3DS ver (or maybe it was the patch), so that (if it's actually true) will affect match length as well.

I have been noticing that Mario gets KO'd sooner from Rosalina's attacks in Smash Wii U than in Smash 3DS. Perhaps the Omega Form stages in Smash Wii U have their blast zones set slightly closer to the battlefield.

Id moreso stick to the same time and same amount of stock, but more rounds for later matches.

Reason why is that people play a 2-stock match differently than a 3-stock.

Also a lot of people are saying blast zones are closer. If so, hoorah XP
