I have an idea. What if we had a YouTube channel that anyone in the community that can be posted on, but closely monitored by moderators. I came up with this idea when I created an e3 thread that basically had all the demo playtime from the community. But this channel does not need to be limited to the demo, or even smash 4. It can be a channel solely dedicated to all of smash, character guides, news, analysis, playthroughs, tournament recaps and even more. It can give publicity to this site, and since a lot of the smashboards community will frequent it, can earn a ton of revenue. People that upload consistently good videos can be paid, along with the moderators for the channel. It makes so much sense, especially since people will be wanting character guides and walkthrough a for smash 4, also having the demo footage will do it wonders. I know this is a huge undertaking, and I am willing to head this project, but it will benefit smashboards, the community, outsiders wanting to join, and everyone. Note that this is my idea, but what do you you guys think? Vote on the poll above so we know there is interest. I know I will probably have to talk to the owners and developers to the site, but we can make smashboards more popular by doing this. If any of the higher-ups are there, and are interested, contact me either in this thread or by private message.
Note: I got permission from a moderator to post this topic at this thread, @Swampasaur, though if any mod wants to move this thread I am open to that, but tell either me or Swampasaur before doing so.

One question that comes to mind is should it be open to all, as in the credentials/permissions are public, or in a submission format, in which you have to submit it to people who would then upload your video? I'm definitely leaning to the latter, so that it can more easily be run and moderated.

I also lean toward the latter, but another system is to have all videos be private, until a moderators says so. We have to wait though until the smashboards community shows interest and the higher-ups on the site talk to me before the fine details are to be worked out, but good idea.

I like this idea!

I'd say only a few (mods?) can post videos, but anyone can submit videos to add in an appropriate forum.

This idea is brilliant; however, I wonder if it'd be better to have related channels for each game or just stick to playlists.
If this catches on, then there will be tens of thousands of videos on 1 channel, which might present some problems.

There is nothing wrong with that though, it just needs to be organized very well, by myself and other people that are moderators for the YouTube channel. I will make sure it isn't an unorganized mess, and make everything easy to find and stress free.

A colelction of the Best Buy demo videos? Count me in. It'll be easy to track em all down when they're in one place! Plus the Internet will be all like "thanks to Smash Boards we have all these nice videos to speculate!"

I'm not concerned about organization. I'm concerned about attention. A huge volume of videos will be submitted each week.
I imagine that attention will be focused on the big names, and people that already have well known channels.
Someone like me might receive little reaction to his or her submissions. Then what's the point?
Success feels good. I think 1 channel for all will feel too much like a competition, and a significant faction of contributors' work will be underrated.

One could say the same for smashboards itself, there are hundreds of threads and guides that are underrated, it's just the way the cookie crumbles. But there are people with great ideas that are unique and if there is a channel with moderators and the like, we are going to give each person who submits a video a fair shot, give videos that are really special unique treatment. It all depends on the quality of videos, created. For example, the e3 demo footage will all be useful at e3, but once smash releases it will not, and it will die in publicity, but a comprehensive guide of how to use Link in smash 4 will likely be useful for a lot of time. Also the way that I have playlists planned will give each quality video a chance to shine. So yeah, if a person posts videos that aren't very good, they likely won't get much attention, but if they have great videos, the mods for it will recognize it and be unbiased for the "old" faces you speak of.
