Smash Rookie
I'm planning to host a Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament for my dorm in the next few weeks. Although I've hosted tournaments in high school, one thing I've never included was food and drinks. I felt this would increase the likelihood people would participate. I'm planning for about 30-40 kids to sign up. My question to you guys (especially those who have hosted tournaments, parties, or something similar in the past) is how much food to get? I've thought up the following varieties of chips and soda:
Chips:
Lays (Original, BBQ, Sour Cream)
Doritos (Original, Cool Ranch)
Fritos
Cheetos
Pretzels
Drinks:
Pepsi
Diet Pepsi
Sierra Mist
Root Beer
Orange Crush
Water
So the question is, how many bags of chips should I buy for about 30-40 people? How much of each variety? Same question for soda and water. Should I do cans or 2-liter bottles? (I'll need cups for the latter choice) Do I need plates or napkins for chips and soda?
If someone could just give me a ballpark estimate I'd greatly appreciate it. I've never provided food and drinks for this type of thing before so I really have no clue what to estimate. Additionally, I've decided to give prizes for the top 4 players. Does anyone have any suggestions on prizes? (Obviously the grand prize has to be nicer than 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively) As long as my expenses are within reason, I have an open checkbook for this event. (I'm still shocked my Resident Director will provide funding!) Thanks so much for your help!
