With such a crappy roster, why did they give Brawl a 40/40? I know it'll still be great, but the roster definitely keeps it from being perfect.

Maybe because they're aren't hardcore smash fans like you and me?

i agree with somerandomguy-the gameplay and modes + online really make this game almost perfect. I also agree with flipstar because we are hardcore smash fans that really expect much more since we'll be playing this game for years

I think they rated it for gameplay, gamemodes, and other game content(trophies, stickers, attention to detail)
Which should have given it a high score, but not perfect. Keep in mind that this is a fighting game, and the roster is one of most important parts of a fighting game. Like I said, I'm sure it'll still be great, I have no doubt that it will be. But, I also have no doubt that the roster could have (and should have) been better.

The roster is not the most important thing of a fighting game, but it's gameplay, i think that was the main thing for Famitsu.

The roster isn't exactly awful to demerit the rest of the game, people really need to chill.

I said the roster is one of the most important parts of a fighting game, and I never said the game play wasn't important. In fact, I think it's more important than the roster.

Also, I never said the roster was bad, I said "...[it] could have (and should have) been better.". At the same time, it could have been worse, but come on!

Two clones of Fox? It's not that I mind Wolf being in there, but I'm sure they could have come up with a different move-set, or at least a new Final Smash. Metroid has had one rep since the first Smash Bros. and still does(Zero Suit Samus is the same character, she doesn't count)! They made Ridley a boss, but they couldn't make him a character?

Ganondorf is still a clone of Capt. Falcon? Good Lord, Sakurai! You couldn't have used some of the development time between May 2005 and now to make a new more fitting move-set for the main villain from The Legend of Zelda? And there are so many items they could have used for an original move-set for Wind Waker Link it's not even funny! The Deku Leaf, the Grappling Hook, the list goes on. If his Final Smash is Triforce Slash, a little more of me will die inside.

He doesn't replace Ness with Lucas, but he replaces Mewtwo with Lucario? Or not, for all we know he could have a completely different move-set. There are other things, but it all comes down to one. The Roster could use work, more work than it should need given the development time.
