Nice thought. But that could be tough when design choices can change fairly late in a game's life cycle. Although, DLC could be a good possibility if the new IP takes off...

This has actually been discussed abit before...but i dont really think its a good idea for reasons already stated.

Even then, it's a success, I think as a new character in Smash 5 (if it ever sees the light of the day) is more likely. Unless we get DLC, then I see the new franchise getting some love in the long run.

I think that'd be pretty cool but Hyruleslink is right, things can change later in development on said game and creating that character now when things change in the future could get awkward.

Olimar wasn't playable in Melee, and I wouldn't expect much difference this time. I think DLC would be more likely. Really, it all depends on dates, I think. When each game gets released. Though SSB has long been in development and we know next to nothing about Miyamoto's new IP, so I'd say chances are slim beyond DLC. But who knows? Maybe we'll see a repeat of Roy's inclusion.

If a character from a currently veiled new franchise is included in the new Smash Bros., it will actually be unprecedented. There are some parallels with the Fire Emblem inclusion, but they stop at the fact that Fire Emblem already existed. But I do understand where you guys are coming from.

Its basically free advertisement, but I'm not going to count on the new character being included due to the reasons already stated. Besides do we even know how far in development its in? Im not really keeping up with that news.

There are serious probabilities, since it would be not the first time a thing like this happened (Kid Icarus 2.0 in Super Smash Bros Brawl, Conker and Banjo in Diddy Kong Racing 64).
