Metaknight appears to be a villain.
Sonic may be in the Subspace as shown in his intro video... But there is no saying you actually fight him and get choice to be him.

Mario and Kirby fought. Then you get to choose one, I believe from what we have seen of Subspace. So maybe only when you fight a character you get a choice between you unlock them?

Plus they have to have some characters unlocked, Metaknight is after all one of the new comers.

Ya know what, I just thought of somethin'. Because Brawl has a more "in-depth" story mode, all the characters are probally unlocked through SE. Something like Sonic Advance 3, where you start off as Sonic (and Tails) and play through to unlock other characters. Just a thought. Wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

I really think the biggest contradiction is the boxart, like several have posted. Also, why would Sakurai recommend that people play SE to avoid seeing unlockable characters and then make half the roster shown on his website unlockable?

Jesus people, it's just the demo screens. I can't believe people are actually thinking Mario and Kirby may be hidden characters because of that screenshot. He was just using the screens in the exampls and since he obviously isn't going to spoil it for us, he used the E for All screens that we've already seen.

Considering that would make it so that if you tried to play multiplayer, it'd have to be all Marios? And to have an alternate unlock for people who don't play single-player, you'd have to play 100 or more matches with nothing but Mario?
