Smash Apprentice
I registered a lv70 mewtwo straight from my Pokémon Red; one, for the pics in the gallery (outdated now) and two, to own any set of lv50 rentals...well, just about.
I heard that fissure, horn drill, guillotine were based on speed in gen1 as opposed to level, and I used these Pokémon, all rentals, to test that theory.
my team:
zapdos - my t-waver (beware crits from mewtwo's psychic, however)
caterpie, metapod, weedle, kakuna - because their string shots slow mewtwo further (they need the paralysis, else mewtwo would own)
nidoking - for the horn drill (I scanned the rentals for the fastest OHKO, and I found nidoking with 101 speed and horn drill)
the battle went like this:
turn 1
zapdos 100%
mewtwo 100%
mewtwo used Psychic.
zapdos took 75% damage!
zapdos' Special fell!
[I don't care about the special drop now, I just want this thing paralyzed.]
zapdos used Thunder Wave.
mewtwo became paralyzed!
turn 2
zapdos 25%, special 1-
mewtwo 100% paralyzed
zapdos used Flash.
mewtwo's accuracy fell!
[other than t-wave, flash was the rental zapdos' only other nonoffensive move.]
mewtwo used Psychic.
zapdos took 25% damage!
zapdos was defeated!
turn 3-7
[summary: string shots from caterpie, weedle, metapod, and kakuna got mewtwo on -5 speed; I was guaranteed -4 but mewtwo was immobilized once]
turn 8
nidoking 100%
mewtwo 100% paralyzed, speed 5-
[does horn drill finish the thing off?]
nidoking used Horn Drill.
mewtwo took 100% damage!
mewtwo was defeated!
[yes it does!]
So in summary, even Mewtwo at a 20-level advantage still does have a weakness.
