A New Member Approaches!

(HEY! LISTEN! Err.. no.. I mean... Howdy! I'm Flowe-... No, that's not right either... Greetings! Salutations! Good morning/afternoon/evening? Hey~ ...I was never good at introducing myself... haha... I guess I'll go with the classic hello.)

Hello! People call me NessNger! ...well not really since I'm new to competitive smash... but that's besides the point!

This first post is a momentous occasion! It marks my first step into the smash community and I can't express the excitement I'm feeling! I've been playing smash since I was around 5 with the release of Melee. Back then, I had no clue what shielding or grabbing was and thought Kirby was the best character ("^_^)\ Haha...

Fast forward a few years until Smash 4 was released and that's when I heard about the smash community. Smash 4 had been out for a few months now and I thought I was pretty good, you know, like all the other smashers who think they're Zero material just because they beat all their friends. Then, the awakening happened.

I had a friend. Let's give him a name, Dave. My friends regarded Dave as the best smash player. My friends all said Dave could beat anyone. Naturally, I wanted to prove them wrong, so one day I faced him. Dave said he had never played Smash 4 before. Never played Smash 4 before? Easy pickings... or so I thought. I was utterly defeated. Very confused, I asked him how he could beat me if he's never played Smash 4 before. He responded by inviting me to his house to play smash. Except it wasn't Smash 4. It was Melee. I think you can guess how he beat me. His knowledge of reading, spacing, and baiting all carried over from Melee and I had no idea what any of that was! Yeah. I was bad.

Knowing how bad I actually was, I just had to get better. I started training with friends who had the same competitive drive as me in both Smash 4 and Melee and I feel I've improved a lot since I've first started playing. However, I know I've still got a long road ahead of me. I would love to get more involved in this community and get better at Smash 4 and Melee (Or Smash in general) so if anyone has any tips, feel free to let me know! (Making new friends and playing smash, my two favorite things!)

Actually my name is a pun of my two mains, the first one my main in Project M and the latter in Smash 4. Though I guess if you would include my Melee main my name should be NessNger & Co. Can you guess what my mains are? I'm shoryuken. <--- This is a red herring.

Also, I was wondering where I could start contributing in the forums? The forums are very large and to be honest I'm a bit intimidated by the vast size of it haha... can someone point me in a general starting direction?

I'm just very confused I'm new to forums in general and I was wondering what was the best way to contribute to this forum as a member.
