A new combo?

I was playing around earlier against a mate. I was marth and so was he.

Anyway, when he got to about 70%, I ran up to him, and was about to short hop double fair. However, just as I went to do the second fair, I instead used marths Reverse Dolphin Slash (up B). The thing sent him flying and he died..

I was just wondering...how reliable is this combo? I mean, when i tried it on my mate, he didn't see it coming and it got him by surprise, so its not like he was trying to DI too much. i tried it on him later on about 90% and it Ko'd him again :D

So yeah, your thought?

PS. Sorry if people have been using this for ages.

This is just a alternate way of doing the ken combo, and yes it has been around for a while.
Ken combo? Isn't that Fair -> Dair? This is fair -> Reverse up B.....it's not rele an alternate way is it?

Anyway, thanks for that. How good is the combo though? I mean, is it reliable enough to use in match?

I wouldn't use it for the simple fact that if you miss... you will get hit. At least if you miss the second fair you have a chance to tech and hit - tech and wd away - or if you're doing it the way you should be, you'll be spaced far enough away that you won't probably won't get touched at all. I'd stick with what's safe and reliable...

its a good combo, actually. The reverse dolphin slash has a pretty good amount of knockback, so if you're too low for a dair or hes at high percent, it will get him off the stage. It's also Marth's fastest move. Faster than his jab, even.

sounds pretty fancy
thats a nice idea. ill try it out somewhen
a good way to actually KO out of sh rising fair
if you are carfull enough you wont go for the up b unless you sure it'll hit, and then you can do another fair or something

I really wouldn't use it unless i was absolutely positive it would land, since it leaves you wide open upon landing. i would use fair-bair then WD - fsmash. but yes it does have some use if you use it appropriately.

It's not really new, but it's almost as situational as the Ken Combo. If you knock your opponent too high for it, this is the combo to follow up; however, I think DAir is still the better when given the option to use either, especially when you're over the edge. The only reason you should put this over DAir is either if you're playing PAL and your opponent is expecting the DAir or if your opponent is at low %.

Smart people dont play PAL.

This is actually a pretty solid combo.

If people who normally catch on to your SHDF combos, they will start to DI away after the first fair. This means the Dolphin slash will suprise them and they will DI it away the first couple times. Its good. Dont use if it wont hit though, obviously.
