A Never Ending Meta-Game

I had a huge mind blow sitting in my algebra class. If Smash 4 keeps on getting updates and patches won't that mean the meta game theoretically will never die even if Smash 4 gets a sequel? I don't know just late night ramblings. What do you think?

Technically you're right. Though I'm sure once a sequel comes out they'd stop updating the previous game and move on to the newest one.
