I debated placing this on the Social thread, but decided that that would not lend it the necessary gravitas. And make no mistake, this is serious business. This is as serious as it gets.
I propose that we, the elite of the Smash 64 community, cease and desist from calling the character formerly known as Captain Falcon "Captain Falcon" or "Falcon". I propose instead that we rechristen him "Doug". The reasons for this are myriad.
Firstly: The melee and brawl people would see that we're our own thing, related to, but not dependent on, their silly character nicknames.
Secondly: Doug is short for Douglas, and his real name is Douglas Jay Falcon. We could call him "Mr. Falcon" or "Dougie Jay" for long.
Thirdly: "Doug" sounds *****in'.
Fourthly: "Doug" is one syllable. "Falcon" is two. Ergo, Doug has the advantage of efficiency.
I'm sure there are many other advantages that I haven't considered. Give your own reasons for Doug, and lend me your support. All the cool kids will be doing it within the month, if my predictions are correct. Don't worry; if someone's confused, take thirty seconds to explain it to them. No biggie.
