hi, when I play marth, i'm pretty much a grab *****. people look at me weird when I play against fast fallers and do forward and down throws instead of upthrows. I do this because I've begun to focus my game around tech chasing. I admit its also because I usually screw up chaingrabs against fast fallers. :-D
you can't do too much grab to tech chasing against floaty people, but alotta times you can just do throw to fsmash on them, or throw to fair combo and then tech chase.

i only just begun this strategy, and had pretty good result so far...but I'm just wondering if you think its a viable strategy.

I actually just tried this in a match that you can find a few topics down. It worked for me, but I wasn't playing against the best Fox/Falco ever.

Its a bad strat to be focusing on, tech chasing is great as an aspect of the game its not something that should be focused on like that, theres certain combos and chaingrabs that can be exploited before having to do that.

Tech chasing is good when you do it when you need to, tech chasing all the time? you are fighting people that get grabbed far too easily.

My Marth used to be very tech chase reliant purely because I wasn't a good player yet and my reaction speed was/is ridiculous. I have since adapted as I have become much better and have realized there are so many more options Marth has that are better than just tech chasing.

Tech chasing can only get you so far at higher levels as its a basic strategy that good players get around very quickly. Don't focus your development on it.

He speaks of purely relying on tech chasing for your marth's damage and kills, its not a good tactic to be relying on as good people will get free, and combo you for it.

Knowing how to end your combos, how to start combos (% knowledge), and gimping of course!

I really can't answer that besides the fact to make yourself an even player, don't reply on one aspect of your game consistently for your win, be able to adapt.

Ask Cactuar, hes a cactus, he knows.

Usually I see marths (including myself) making the wrong move in a combo/start-up and it pretty much bones them. You should focus your game on spacing and learning all of marths moves.

Tech chasing falcon makes the world go round. Other than that, just use Marth's other 9000 options, cause they're gonna reward you more.

Tech chasing will only get you so far, and no matter how perfect you think you are, you will miss some tech chases.

Learn how to combo instead more effectively. Also, focus more on your spacing, since Marth needs it more than most characters.

Really, it's all up to you. You make your own play style, no one else.

against fast fallers upthrowing is easy ****, but how about against falcon? at low percentages I find i can't do anything with an upthrow besides techchase or some lame utilt that ends in nothing.

At low percents, you tech chase, and focus on getting him to the edge so you can gimp his stock. I've found that if you hit with the first of a double swipes forward air, and replace the second with an up air into an uptilt, you can do a lot. Good for racking up %s anyway.

Try not to focus only on tech chasing. You really shouldn't be focusing on one strategy at all anyways. You should cary and change your style depending on your opponent, mindgames anyone? Also, just because you can't do something doesn't mean that you s hould give up and focus on something else. Practice until you get everything perfect.

Perfection is a far cry from possible. Although you may disagree, I don't deny that some people can sure make themselves look near perfect.

I personally dislike tech chasing while playing Marth, though it's something I'm used to when I'm playing Falcon.
