A guide to finding and joining Tournaments?

Hey, kind of a noob here, and really sorry if this has been answered somewhere before and I haven't really checked yet, but as a person really interested in the tournament scene...how does one find one nearby? and what happens after you join your first one? where do you go from there?

once again, sorry if this has been pointed out somewhere. Being rather new to the forums and all, im not really familar to anything. if anyone can point me to a thread that seems to answer a lot of noobie questions towards the tournament seem, please do so!

1. If you have Facebook, search for your region's group there. Your local community news, discussion, tournament postings, etc, will go on there.

2. Go to the Tournament Listings forum here on Smashboards and look for a nearby tournament. Go and meet people and play friendlies.

Everything else usually follows from there.
