a good way they could implement Air Shield and Air throw

People think an Air shield would be cheap because it would render aerial game unimportant, as well as it would unbalance the game. Well, i have a different stance, because i thought of a clever way to implement it. When you shield in the air, you cease any horizontal momentum, and begin sinking in a kind of fast fall, after which you can take off the shield and start DI'ing again. The catch is sinking fast is a really bad thing in smash obviously, and secondly, if you stop moving and then DI and stop moving and DI you lose horizontal distance. Interrupting your DI and beginning to DI again hurts horizontal recovery.

Well, some of you may be asking then, whats the point of aerial shielding if your just going to sink and cant move and your opponent can just jump back on the level or edge, and edge guard you again. Well, here's the catch. If your opponent strikes you while you aerial shield, then the impact of their attack puts them into a miniature stun. Not a long enough one to cause your opponent trouble when it comes to recovering the stage. But while in this stun, you can grab your opponent and throw him. Thus, when Marth comes to fair you or dair you and your off the edge, you shield the attack, he is stunned from the impact, and then you can grab him and throw him backwards and get back on the edge, thus switching places with him. The only way to aerial grab would be after stunning your opponent with a aerial shield.

Air shields allow you to fastfall? Congratulations, you just gave every character in the game the equivalent of a DJC.

Restricting aerial grabs to counterattacks from the aerial shield kind of defeats the purpose of the aerial grab. The only reason to have an aerial grab in the first place is to have an aerial attack that can penetrate shields.

And on top of that, why should air blocking give the opponent MORE stun? The way you described them, air shields give you more mobility, ridiculous offensive options, and safer counterattacks. Now there's hardly any reason to block on the ground, is there?

Man now I can see all the comments when someone posts a vid: "Pff, N00b, you never short hopped air shielded!" Can we stick to an airdodge?

maybe air shielding and landing gives you lag. Also, air shielding already has the punishment of the fast falling.

Fast falling is a good thing 90% of the time. Lets stick with the air dodge.

thanks for the thoughts, its just an i dea i had. They could remove the "brokenness" by making it so if you land on the ground from performing an aerial shield, you face lag. Also, the stun animation isn't more stun, its a special stun animation that lasts a small amount of time in which your opponent can be aerial grabbed. Also when isay fast falling, im thinking not your characters normal fastfall speed, but a much faster falling speed equivalent of fox or someone else's falling speed. Also you wouldn't be able to perform an A attack out of the shield, only B attacks, jump, or air grab.
