A GOOD Fire Emblem concept stage?

For a long time, I've been kind of disheartened knowing that there hasn't been a decent Fire Emblem stage on Brawl Vault in, well, ever. Fire Emblem has never received the sort of Stage representation that I feel it deserved, but I felt like posting an idea I had here for people who can actually make it (who were looking for something to do, really).

The idea is basically a larger Castle Siege, without transformations, with a higher ceiling, and not as deep a floor. The stage itself is simply the 'main' stage reflected on itself. Great for doubles with its size, with a unique layout of ramps and platforms, with the ramps aiding players seeking shelter from zoners, and the large, flat center aiding projectile-users. The top-middle platform is also perfect for this purpose, but also useful in that players can utilize setups for their powerful vertical finishers there.

Anyway, thought I'd just post this and here what anybody had to think about it:

I feel like that, too. I can shorten up that picture in a few minutes and show you what I was ideally thinking.

Oh, I used a Zelda-esque version of the stage in Brawl Box to take the pictures since the default one is ****ed in there for some reason. I couldn't preview models at all on the default one for some reason.

I'd download it.

Castle Sky from Calabrel's custom build. 210 beat me to the punch. It is amazing. Platforms are at an interesting height, just above full-hop range and move together and away. It's a very interesting spin on a wider Smashville, and the Elincia + Castle Seige background are cool. No gimmicks, no transforms, just pure FE.

I kind of wish it was an official stage over PS1/Castle Seige itself, but oh well.

I've also had an idea for the same part of castle siege , but its quite a bit different from this one. I think it would work better and would add some size to the stage without making it too big. What I'm thinking is, adding a pillar as another platform to the right side of the stage. Basically I'm thinking the same type of pillar as the one that's got one of the platforms on it currently (its paced right behind the main stage and a platform sticks out of it). I was trying to do this myself, but couldn't do it.

I think this would look nice, and give us another platform to jump on and fight on.

Any takers for that? (if im not making sense jsut say so and I'll try and explain better)

Off-stage platforms are doo-doo. Think Kongo Jungle from Melee, sucked *****. The stage concept is sizable enough (about the width of Distant Planet) on its own, and I don't see any value in adding a platform off-stage besides allowing the defender an enormous advantage over a recovering opponent. Falco's dair through said platform, for instance, is one attack among others that I can think of that would severely limit recovery options for anybody. I've said this to you in regards to a hundred different topics in a hundred different posts; think things through more. Quit thinking "well, this would be cool", "well, this would make it better", and use your head already.

Imagine a platform off of the side of Final Destination, or any stage for that matter. Against a recovering opponent, you would have the advantage of being able to wait above them, completely safe. You could do fall-through play with aerial blocking, position yourself for projectile gimps, or simply bait your opponent's recovery to the platform and punish them for landing on it (I'm assuming that it has no ledges, because that would be even worse than a simple platform) during their landing lag.

In general, platforms off-stage are a horrible idea.

I see what you mean.. but I think if done correctly it can work. i guess most people wouldnt want this done for P:M though cause it could take away from the competitive gameplay

This is the closest Fire Emblem stage I have in my build currently

Yeah while isn't perfect, I would still say it is exceptional based on the small playtime I was afforded. The plats move side to side like smash 4's smashville.

It can't work, trust me. The player on the platform has too large an advantage, with access to the ledge from off-stage, and their opponent. Go download Casino Night Zone (over Flatzone II) on Brawl Vault. It does something similar, and those platforms can **** gameplay up something fierce.

The only time those kind of platforms work out are when they're done in the manner of Yoshi's Island (Brawl), and Smashville. Where the time they're offstage is very brief.

I enjoy this stage design. It suggests King of the Hill style gameplay, and considering the castle appearance, is rather appropriate. If the pegasus statue could be added to the background of the top platform, hoo boy that'd be swell! This stage is a lot more competition friendly than half of P:M's current stages (ehem, Big Blue).

If I had the means to make it, or half the drive I needed to do so, I'd go out and do it. I don't understand it, I spent a huge part of my teenage years developing and building maps for the Unreal and Halo series, love designing maps and stages, but can't ever get myself to go out and do it for Brawl. I suppose it's because I need eighteen different programs to bounce all of my things around in, and I just don't have the drive in me to do it.

So, I post concepts here from time to time, hoping somebody will pick them up and do them the justice they deserve.

I mean, I'd love to be a stage designer for PM, but... as evidenced by my inability to make stages happen, I can't foresee it happening. Which is too bad, because I've got good ideas for rebalances of stages for characters with poor stage representation, I feel (like what I had in mind for Brinstar and Shadow Moses in other threads).

Does anyone Have a mod for the the current FE stage, so that it doesn't transform?

There's no actual stage to download, as it's only a concept render (I don't actually know how to create stages in Brawl, I've only ever added a platform to FD as a learning experience). As for that other Castle Siege, I tried it out (there is one), but it crashed my game.

Castle Sky is pretty great. I wish the platforms stayed separated/joined for a more lengthy period of time, but it's a very solid stage. I recommend it to anybody looking to have a more viable stage select for competitive play.

I feel the platform height is a little jank - it is just above fullhop height and not as low as Smashville's, so it is actually inherently harder and riskier to follow up from ground to platform. It's an interesting feature though that subtly aids in defense and recovery, so in the end I wouldn't consider changing it.

I thought the platform height was pretty fine. There's finally another stage in where the platforms benefit the recovering player or player on defense more than the attacker.
