A fix on rolling?

I hear a lot of people complain about roll spammers. I see a lot of them when watching videos of For Glory. Isn't there a mechanic in Sm4sh where using the same move repeatedly makes the move weaker? Why not add the same type of mechanic to rolling? or maybe make rolling like shielding.

each time you roll your invincibility frames are decrease by 10 or 20% and slowly raise back up as time passes.

Just a random thought I had. Thought I might as well share. 491

It's a good idea, while I don't think it's impossible to punish, it does tend to be way too safe at times and promotes people to abuse it rather than try different was to evade or approach. Also some characters have really fast roles and some have really slow roles with varying distances so I think that would help balace that more

just punish rolling by down smashing.
I'm mean yeah but, would it hurt to have a penalty for abusing it? Melee has a thing where you can't spam it, it actually has some ending lag meaning you had to have a hard read to get the most out of that roll.

The penalty is that they're leaving themselves open to taking free damage. I do agree, though, that it seems harder to punish some characters that others (and I say this as someone who rolls reflexively and is trying to break that habit).

That's not a good enough penalty though, if it was you wouldn't have that problem with abusing the roll like you do. It should have ending lag like in melee because I have to be way too precise even if I read your roll to hit you while all you have to do is shield afterwards.
