Hi, excuse my noobishness, but I've only recently played Brawl, and also recently learned about Homebrew and all those goodies. Now, I don't even own a Wii, but my friends do, and they're working on a Homebrew project of their own. I wish to help, but unfortunately I cannot because I am unable to install Gecko OS onto my computer (dumb parents), and thus I would rather edit the textures as PNGs in GIMP. Is there an actual set of the textures in PNG form so I can edit them, because I can't find them online anywhere and my friends don't know how to extract them for me. The ones I need in particular are Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Lucario, Pit and King Dedede, but a full set is all the better (although if it's easy to do you could present me with a tutorial for my friends so they could do it themselves)

Later I plan on experimenting on changing the actual models - is it possible to export the models as formats that can be edited in Blender, then imported back into the actual Homebrew programs? It would make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Thanks for the advice or images in advance.

Firstly, this isn't really the place to ask questions. Smash Workshop General has a subforum (Tutorials, FAQs, and Help or something like that) for this sort of thing. Secondly, I'm not sure what you're talking about when you talk about installing Gecko OS on your computer. Gecko OS is a launcher for the Wii. There is nothing of the sort you could install on your computer (unless you're talking about software related to a Gecko USB?). Textures are exportable like with any 3D model. BrawlBox, which is a very light installation, allows you to export the texture maps so that they can be edited and reimported very easily. Someone has all of the disc hosted on mediafire, but I don't have the link handy right now.

Regarding your last question regarding model editing: yes and no. Only MDL0 files work in Brawl, and there is not currently no convertor. However, there are methods that allow you to do things like export a map of the vertices of an MDL0 file so that it may be edited in Blender, 3DS, or another similar program and then reimport the edited version to be applied to the MDL0. Link to the method I'm thinking of.
