A Few of My Marth Vids.

Here are a few matches I had decided to record while playing with Friends over Wifi. Some of the are good, and some of them could be better.

I actually would want some critique on my Marth as well, since I just started a Smash Crew and I am planning on joining the 2 v 2 Tourney on WifiWars coming soon. Also, FYI. I use the Stick+ A as well as the C-Stick and I am a Tap jumper, meaning I use the Stick to jump and Y and X are the least used buttons on my controller. Wahcha.

Anywho, I bet I probably suck, or if I dont, I'm somewhere around decent. Anywho, without further ado.

I had one of my Jiggs versus Itach's Marth, but
1. Its a Jiggs vid
2. It was far from serious on my part
3. I got ***** so lol.

EDIT: Though I can say, I have gotten slightly better, and I am adopting a less aggressive play style for Marth.

I only watched the ike match and the first match vs meta.

Ike match: Way too much countering. There were a lot of other mistakes but ill prolly touch on them with your meta match.

Meta match: First things first, you need to learn how to short hop. Short hopping is essential to marth's game and you didn't do one both of those matches. I guess this is because you use the control stick to jump. Unless you can somehow figure out how to short hop using the control stick you are going to have to learn how to use X or Y to jump if you want to play competitively.

Most of the time you played right into meta's hands. You would rush him with no regards to your positioning and get a sword to the face. You need to play more patiently, especially vs a meta.

Just some other things i saw during that match:

No dancing blade (marths best move)
Too much fsmash
No ftilt and not much dtilt
Lack of efficient spacing

You need a lot of work, read up on emblem lord's threads and learn to short hop.

Well, I do short hop, but yea. Its hard with Control stick. I push diagonally up with my thumb, so its pushed towards the side and usually its not considered a full jump. I was thinking about modding my GC controller to fill some of the space inbetween the Y/X button so that pushing down hard would only constitute a short hop. I have a bad habit of pressing too hard on the Y/X button, and Control Sticking it proved easier.

But yea. I agree I need to work on that. I already glanced over the thread you mentioned, actually before I posted this thread, and I have been working on a less aggressive style.

EDIT: What about the Marth Ditto match? Nothing to say on that?

I didn't watch it, marth dittos are silly. I'll watch it though and if I see something worth noting I will...

K I watched it, and it was silly but anyway some key points:

Way too much smash spam. You are overusing all of your smashes. Unless you are going for the kill, punish with dancing blade (something you should probably use a little more of). I didn't see many tilts, if any at all. Marth's dtilt and ftilt are great spacing tools.
