First up, I 2-stocked this player in my arena in our first match where they were Capt Falcon. They were queued up as ZSS after that, zero to death'd me to start the match, which caught me completely off guard, and I never recovered. I spent the whole match scrambling on autopilot and button mashing. I don't need anyone to point out all the things I did wrong, but I'm wondering how to better approach the ZSS matchup in general as I haven't been doing well with it.

Second replay, this DK player 2-stocked me in our first match, and this was the second one where I kept it close but couldn't quite pull it out. I did some nice things here, but any feedback on where I went wrong and how I could have pulled out the victory would be much appreciated!

And for anyone interested, here's a playlist with all the replays I've uploaded if you want to see me winning:

As someone with a DK problem myself, I can probably help with that...

You didn't respect DK much at all. He is terrifying when in advantage and can ruin you. But he also can't really approach, and is bad in disadvantage. You approached him a lot and got lit up for it. The key is to force him to make a risky approach and punish him for it. It isn't fun, but neither is getting hit by DK. Also you got lit up on like every on-stage counter you tried, but didn't really try it much on his aerial up B. He's especially susceptible to ledge trapping because he has no real unpunishable getup options.

The thing about DK is that he is an unrelenting force, if you let him be one. His grab range is huge and he can convert quite a bit off a grab, unlike a majority of the cast in this game. It's super easy to underestimate him and think you can combo him to hell and back, but it just doesn't work that way any longer. Give him the same respect you'd give Ganondorf's smash attacks.

I don't fight a ton of ZSS nor do I play Lucina enough to give realistically good tips on that matchup. But one thing I noticed there, was again, your overuse of counter. I don't know what happened on that 0-death but I didn't see your jump get caught? You DIed in offstage which got you hit again, but didn't see a jump come out.

I wasn't so sure about my jump on that zero to death either so I rewatched those first 10 seconds a bunch of times to try and figure it out. I'm almost 100% certain I accidentally double tapped jump when getting up from the ledge. If you go to jump from the ledge and press jump a second time while still in contact w/ the ledge you actually burn your mid-air jump. Lucina's jump from ledge animation has her flip up from the ledge to the stage then immediately jump with a regular forward flip in the air, but when I jump from the ledge in the clip, I can see Lucina's body start to corkscrew on the ledge jump which matches her mid-air jump animation.

I get what you're saying about DK, especially with the counter. Will work on better using it as an edge guard and ledge trapping tool.

Thank you!!
