A couple of DK questions

First one is, how do you cancel DK's down+b, to connect it with a giant punch. I can't do it i always go too late with the punch.

The second one is the uair combo through a platform, like this one at 2:33 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_1W0ThSbNE


Are both only due to z-cancel or there is more? Cause I've not been able to quite do it yet

2. Yes, but going through a platform and use Uair is tricky, and requires practice. Almost impossible to do with D-pad or Keys (Almost)

1. You can't cancel the down+b, its length is determined by how long you leave the B pressed. Therefore, to connect it with a giant punch just press the B as if it was a short hop. If done correctly DK will hit the floor twice.

2. If you play on a keyboard, press Down then press Up+A at the same time. It's not almost impossible, it just takes practice to do it well.

Edit: I forgot, the down+b will also be longer if you press B many times.

they are right..(im dum D: ) just tapping Down B once should work...I used R to get used to quickly releasing ...kinda pointless though ...heh

Just TAP the B button once, and DK will only pound the ground with both hands once. Don't hold the button down. It's like short-hopping except it doesn't even have to be pressed that quickly.

When DK shorthops onto the first platform in Hyrule, a weird thing happens. He immediately lands perfectly on the platform and all his lag is automatically canceled, WITHOUT z-canceling. If you properly short-hop aerial onto that platform, you'll see how quick it is - try it out and be amazed!

So, do that with a uair, then drop through the platform while uair-ing, z-cancel on the ground, and repeat.

I think for the platforms on Dreamland he doesn't land abnormally perfectly on them like in Hyrule, but the same process applies. I z-cancel both the upwards and downwards uairs anyway because dropping through the platform is easier/faster when holding z, and DK still lands on the platform really quickly when moving upwards.

You only need to Z-cancel the Uair which goes downwards, the other one auto-cancels due to perfect landing.

to do a down-b to punch vs pika kirby and luigi you need to hit the person with the second ground slap instead of the first to connect

Nah, you just need to double jump and press B inmediately after the second jump. I don't play on a controller, but I'm guessing sliding from a c-button to the B-button would work.

To do the platform trick with up-airs you need really soft hands. Short hop up-air z-cancel, press down then slightly hold up then up-air z cancel and repeat

It's useful but DK can win by using homosexual tactics that are way easier
