A bunch of questions about netplay

I really want to get into netplay, but I have a ton of questions that I need answered first. Let's start here: Will my laptop be able to play netplay smoothly? Smoothly enough so that it is a decent way to train.
Here are my specs:
Model: HP Pavillion g6-1d65ca
Processor: AMD A6-3420M (Quad Core)
Ram: 4GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.5GHz

Ok so now time for some more questions:
1. Will there be screen lag since I won't be playing on a CRT? (or is it patched in the Dolphin emulator or something?)
2. Can I use the 20xx hack pack to play on netplay?
3. What is the best adapter to get for gamecube controller to pc?

Thank you for taking time to read this, looking forward to your answers!

1.your laptop screen probably will have input lag yes unless its a gaming monitor non CRTs tend to have lag

2.I doubt it ... the only way is if the other person has 20xx

3. the raphnet adapter is supposed to be the best

While I'm not 100% sure, your specs seem to meet the minimum requirements as stated here (someone tell me if I'm wrong or not, or if the experience won't be smooth). As for your other questions:

1: You may face some input lag, but from my experiences I barely experience that unless my opponent and I desynch (which isn't often, usually happens if my opponent is using a different version of Melee such as the 20xx pack).

2: I believe you can, I have had a match against someone who apparently used the 20xx pack on me when I used the normal version, but we ended up desynching after our first match (which was our luckiest, other attempts we never even finished the match or it barely even started). You and your opponent would both be needing to use it, otherwise you will both desynch.

3. I personally use the Mayflash Port 2 GC to PC Adapter, but I hear some of the Wii U adapters also work with PC (and Mayflash is apparently making some compatible with both Wii U and PC). So if you plan on playing on a Wii U, you might want to get the ones compatible with a Wii U and PC, otherwise the one I listed should suffice.

Thanks for the info! I was also wondering, I downloaded a melee ISO and I extracted the files, but it is not an ISO, I do not know how to make it an ISO or save it as an ISO, how do I do that?

if it's a .gcm then just rename it to .iso because it's the same exact file just renamed.

Hmm thats odd that your ISO, well isn't an ISO. For me I downloaded an ISO off of a site and put the ISO which was in the folder into Dolphin, from there I was able to set up Netplay Games. You might have downloaded off of either a bad site or something along those lines.

Your specs are pretty weak so I'm not sure how well the game will run, try the latest dev builds too as they are faster (we will be switching to them for netplay soon).

1. Yes there will be input lag. With your screen + adapter it will probably be ~1-2 frames.

2. You can use the 20xx hack pack on Netplay but there are two conditions:
You must change the game id (change GALE01 to something like GALEXX) by using a hex editor like HxD. You open the iso in HxD and type over where it says GALE01 and change it to GALEXX. The reason for this is because since the 20xx hack pack and regular melee are both GALE01 Dolphin can't tell the difference between the two so when you join a netplay game Dolphin will just randomly pick between the two, causing you to desync.

Your opponent must also be using the 20xx hack pack with the same game id as you. Normal melee will not sync with 20xx.
3. The best adapters are in this order:
Official nintendo GC->Wii u adapter (works on pc, Dolphin has native support for it in the latest dev builds, has virtually 0 input lag)
Raphnet (slightly less input lag than mayflash)
Mayflash (a bit more input lag than Raphnet, but has two ports. Input lag is probably < 2 frames. I use this one and it has worked great for over a year)
What I would be most concerned about is you being able to run the game.. Your cpu is very weak.

Ok I downloaded the newest version and tried to play melee. It did not launch, it just said "GPU is outdated or integrated" it also says failed to complete pixel shader/ vertex shader

Try switching graphics adapters in the graphics settings and/or updating your graphics drivers.
