8 Player Stages Legal in Singles/Doubles?

Do you think we should use 8 player stages?

I was wondering if this would ever be a good idea in tournament, and it seems I wasn't the only one with this idea, as @TeamSp00ky hosted a tournament with some of these stages. For those of you that don't know, 8 player stages often times get rid of stage hazards and other details to make it easier to run 8 players on the stage.

-Pyrosphere lacks Ridley and the other creatures.
-Pokemon Stadium 2 doesn't transform.
-Norfair doesn't have lava.

The thing is, to access the stages in this state, you need 5-8 players. So you need to add CPUs, 1 in doubles or 3 in singles. Put them at level 1, and at a 300% handicap. An extra minute is put on the clock, and you put on an extra stock. The two fighters spend the extra minute to get rid of the CPUs, and then kill themselves once so they make sure they have a fresh stock. When the timer hits the actual time that is supposed to be on, then the battle starts.

So what we could get is maybe PS2 as a cool neutral, and Norfair and Pyrosphere as Counterpicks. Although, with the interest of time, some TOs may not favor the extra time it takes to access these stages. So the question is, how does the community feel about it? Make sure to vote on the poll, and to comment below your thoughts! :D

They still remain on the big side (certian ones like Lylat/Animal Crossing stages actually get scaled up for 8 player Smash) and promote stuff like circle-camping.

The main reason still has to be that setting up the matches (as in waiting for the minimum 3 extra people needed to SD completely) makes it both time-consuming and a hassle to consistently do for matches. It's not as bad for doubles since only one person SD's, but even then, that's taking not taking into account the amount of stocks being used (standard 2-3) and the bigger stages meaning about 15+ seconds are wasted just to start the match from the timer. With lower and lower timers set for stock matches now, most wonder why bother for a few extra/"unneeded" stages.

Oh ya, extra controllers could be used to SD, that's so obvious somehow it never occurred to me xD

I was testing this today with someone and it wasn't nearly as intrusive as I expected it would be. We just kept things on 8-player smash with handicapp on and three lvl 1 CPUs set to 300%. When we weren't playing with PS2 or Norfair we would just turn the CPUs off and then select whichever stage. When we did want to play on PS2, we just up'd the stock counter by one and turn the CPUs on. After they were trashed we just SD'd at the same time and play out the match normally. We didn't bother with adjusting the time, but in tournaments I think setting it to an extra minute would make sense. Though, I think waiting for the clock to count down until '6:00' exactly is unnecessary; it was much easier to simply jump right into things as soon as we respawned.

Anyway, I could definitely see 5-player PS2 becoming a neutral and Norfair possibly becoming a counterpick. With the new ledge mechanics, ledge stalling doesn't seem like it would be quite as powerful, though admittedly I haven't tried breaking the stage and I'm quite possibly very wrong about it.

Also I just checked, 8 player PS2, Norfair, and Pyrosphere aren't any bigger than the normal ones, and if we always use the 8 player smash screen it's okay, because with less than 5 people all the stage are normal so T&C wouldn't be enlarged normally, so we don't need to switch between menus either. It seems the biggest issue is people SDing, which if we have controllers set up it won't be all that difficult honestly.

This... is so way too much hassle.
3 adjectives... Nice? but in all honesty, if it is set up correctly it isn't really a hassle. Online tournaments already have people SDing, so its the same as that. 3 people SDing takes just as long as 1. You don't need to constantly change menus either, all games can be used in the 8 player smash menu.
