What's the cheapest possible way to record gameplay off the Wii U at 60fps, regardless of resolution?
I've had a look online and the price generally hovers above AU$200. I need some help.

Thanks in advance.

For recording in 60fps, the Elgato Game Capture HD 60 is usually the go to capture card. That's £140 here, so that'd be about AU$270 for you, but it future proofs you for a while. It does 1080p60.

If you want to go a little bit cheaper, there is always the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket. It's £94 here, AU$181 roughly for you. Although it doesn't say anywhere, but it DOES do 60fps, but only 720p (Change your WiiU settings to 720p and it'll automatically pick it up in the program you install). I have one of these, and I think the quality is great. It also has an inbuilt audio balancer, so you can stick a mic in it and set how loud it can go with the touch bar on the top, and lock it to that if you want. You can also stick a USB stick in it and record it without a PC, but I haven't tested if it can do 60fps doing it that way, but it makes it portable too if you're interested.

If you wanna see how the Rocket looks in 720p60, here's a video I've done using it. The raw file will look a little better than that actually as I compressed it a tiny bit. Just don't forget to change the settings to 720p60. cx

I've been using the El Gato HD60 myself and the quality is gorgeous. I was able to snag it on sale on Amazon a couple weeks ago at around $50 off. Definitely worth the extra cost.

They also have a cheaper version as well, though I'm not sure about the quality for that one.

If you want to take a look at the video quality, feel free to check out the videos I've posted. Got a link in my signature.

I have the cheaper one, and the quality of it is fine. The only difference is that it can't do 1080p at 60fps. 1080i, 720p, and below can all be recorded at either 30 or 60fps.
