Some people don't want more Pokemon in Brawl for whatever selfish reason they might have, I on the other hand would like to see more Pokemon characters in Brawl, seeing as though it's one of the most well known franchises in the world.

Now, in SSB, there were 2 Pokemon.
That is 16.66% of the characters

In SSBM, there were 4 Pokemon.
That is 15.38% of the characters.

Now, assuming that there is atleast 40 characters in Brawl,
6 Pokemon characters would equal exactly 15%

Now, add these 6 characters (they include PT and Pikachu btw) to the amount of characters that we already know, and it still leaves 18 characters unaccounted for. That's more than half the amount of characters in Melee, and this is only if there are atleast 40 characters.

Pokemon is a Multi-BILLION dollar franchise, and one of Nintendo's biggest, so 6 Pokemon characters in Brawl, doesn't seem at all unlikely.

Why does it have to sum up to roughly 15% of the characters? I'm one of those people who opposes too many pokemon in Brawl. I realize it is a big money-maker franchise, but instead of putting in so many Pokemon you could have other kinds of characters from different franchises.. maybe putting these in will draw attention to other people to play that game. Who really is going to say.. "Well Brawl only has 4 Pokemans in instead of 6 so i don't think I'm going to buy it." I think 4-5 is a sufficient number to represent the franchise especially since the Pokemon Trainer is three pokemon in one character.

In all honesty, the roster should be Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo and Pokemon Trainer. Especially because Pokemon Trainer is a three in one. Mewtwo is the series antagonist (at least for R/B/Y/FR/LG, who Red represents) and I'd rather not have Lucario replace Jigglypuff. She's been in the last two Smashes and she's built a nice fanbase. So I would not mind if Pokemon Trainer Red was the only new Pokemon character, because you're getting 3 characters in one, and the only thing they lack is a Down B.

What I don't understand in all of this is why people on both sides so vehemently argue one another when the end result will have absolutely no effect on the actual subject. So people think 6 pokemon in SSBB is too much, it's not like their opinions will suddenly sway the staff of SSBB into omitting a few of their characters.

In the end this discussion, and several others, are just pointless ramblings made for the sake of the poster's ego. After all, whats the point in arguing that the glass is half full or empty when no agreement will change the amount of liquid in the glass.

It's arguing for the sake of arguing, which deserves an instant lock in my book.

Hold up there a second. There is a difference between an argument and a debate. This is a forum to discuss SSB, I'm not flaming anyone, I'm pointing out why it seems likely that there will be about 6 Pokemon in Brawl. Everyone is allowed to debate, no one is saying that they know for a fact.

Wow, you totally stole this thread topic from my post in the "Am I the only one not liking the PT update" thread, lol.

It's almost word for word.

*shrug*

W/e the case, I really don't hope there are 6 Pokemon even if it would follow the ratio thats been put out for the two games so far. Call me old fashion but I think no series should have more than 5 reps except the Mario franchise(and that's only because they're so many memorable characters from it).

I know it's high hopes, but think about it:
SSB64->SSBM, They slightly more than doubled the amount of characters.(12->25)
I'm hoping 50 chars in Brawl. Hey, why not? (also hoping for at least 5 Pokemon)*

Also, stop counting Red as 3 characters in one- does Metroid not deserve Ridley because Samus is two characters in one? If Sheik came back as Zelda's transformation, would the Zelda series deserve any less characters?

In the end, no matter how much we think a character shouldn't be in there, it'll be in there anyways. We've seen by the Pokemon Trainer that Sakurai has no limits on what characters to put in, and he'll find a way to make any character work. So quit griping and accept that the Pokemon Trainer is here.

*EDIT: 5 Pokemon CHARACTERS. with one more we'd already have 5 Pokemon.

My sentiments exactly. There's plenty of room for Pichu, and Jigglypuff, and Mewtwo. Of course I'm still rollin' with my boy Pikachu and i like the idea of having PKMN Trainer/Red/Ash in the series. Sakurai said forty, plenty of room. Out of the near 500 pokemon, if one isn't a PC, it'll probably be in a Pokeball anyway. I say we "gotta play 'em all!"

Pokemon pwns. PT isn't 3 characters, it's one. It'll take up one slot, and there'll be 3 more pokemon characters, by my reckoning. 6 pokemon, 4 character slots. Sounds about right to me.

Well this is a little bit different. Alot of people think the Metroid series deserves more characters, it's a little under-represented with only two characters. Pokemon however has already a large sum of characters to choose from, and Red is an addition of three new pokemon to choose from.

You have an error in that statement. Let me correct you.
Get rid of "Pichu, and". Then you're fine:p

Your list is great except for that last part... >_>; Put munchlax in there instead of that thing and it would be perfect
Is "Pokemon Problem Solving" anything like "Mario Math"??
yes, just like "Link's Learnings" and "Kirby's Konundrums"

You may hate him, but from what I've gathered, you hate him because you don't like how he looks, and you're tired of other people talking abut him.

Those are not viable reasons to reduce a character's chances.

Because it would seem like i was just posting to get my post count up... >_>;

Anywayz... Umm I hate lucario don't put him in brawl... >_>; <_<;
I find it incredibly odd you want Plusle and Minum in over Lucario.

I'm so sick of all of this Plusle and Minum stuff I can't wait until they're deconfirmed once and for all. I don't even hate them, in fact I think they're cute. It's just they lack creativity, not only in their appearance, but also everything else. Putting them in as a duo is just trying to hide the fact that they are still nothing but two Pikachu/Pichu clones.

I'd take Lucario over Plusle and Minum anyday... and I'm pretty sure Lucario would get in over them.

I just said that so i would stay on topic lol...

Plusle and Minun represent the third gen better than Lucario represents the fourth gen... (doesn't want to veer off topic D: )

I'm sick of lucario being a pokemon! I am really hoping that he doesn't get into the game...

I'd take ANY THING (even things that aren't pokemon and stupid things like bill cosby!) over Lucario anyday...
