To the Pittsburgh fellas, I personally think you should cut this CyberConxion store some slack. Leon's just running a business, and he's listened and responded to the customers' feedback/complaints. This was evident through the altered scale payout. He's not our friend, he's a businessman, and you have to face the fact that a business's number one goal is to make a profit.

I think any attempts made to fend off other potential customers is not that cool, unless by chance you happened to be hosting your own SSBM tournament that day or something.

Sure they've kicked people out early before, but they were never obligated to keep that spot open longer than what they promised for the tournament.

i'm sorry but the contrast between the pittsburgh one and the one they have here in new jersey (which is one of the best ones i've been to as far as running tournaments) is just too much

i still can't understand kicking people out when there is NO ONE waiting to come in; i never really cared about the money thing

I consider what we are doing now is the act of cutting slack.

I mean our crew could be spamming it up like this:

omg dont go to this
they have NO tv's
you play on projectors have that lag
friendlies afterwards are limited to NONE!
no good smashers go
only 4 setups
one of the employee's accused us of stealing a mem card when it was in his pocket
they gave someone the wrong amount of money one time(which was fixed a month later)

but we are not, one our members is probly going to this and will probly bring a friend or two so, they're lucky that we aren't taking extreme measures to completely tarnish the thing they like to call a smash scene down there.

It's not like any of you are coming anyway, so it's not your place to start harping on the store for hosting an event that doesn't completely satisfy you nor criticizing me for deciding to attend. I want to win a little money, give Fritz some much-needed smashing with other people, and show some aspiring smashers a higher level of play. Sue me.

whatever dude

i'm not trying to hurt cybercon, i just wanted to keep people (especially those thinking about making a few-hour drive from west virginia) from being severely disappointed

don't you dare, alan
I fail to see how blatantly telling me not to attend is providing info to keep other people from being disappointed.

In fact, I guess I'll do it, to be fair to those people:
-There are 4 projectors used for the matches, not TVs.
-There is a little time for friendlies before the tournament, but as soon the tourney ends we must leave.
-The skill level, besides myself and a friend I'll be bringing, is relatively low.

I'm that WV person (representing the group). I just want to know a rough estimate of the number of participants in this tournament. Tell me whether or not I should go.

Back when I used to attend them regularly they typically brought in about 15-20 people purely from Pittsburgh. I don't know their average nowadays. Either way, your group would probably be a great contribution.

You be the judge.

yup, your group would probably be half the people there

the last time i went there were under 12 people entering the actual tournament, and at least 4-5 of those people are now home from college

We didn't go to that one but are you guys having weeklies in Pittsburgh or Duquesne? If you guys plan to do that all summer, we'll for sure come up during a weekend in late July or August.

sure, Just make sure you keep track of whats going on in our other thread: "the *official* pittsburgh weeklies".

Ask around, we'll know if and when something is going on.
