Before I even begin, I must admit that this initially was supposed to be a Tekken/3D games tournament, BUT I have discussed this with a couple buddies from Lawrence, and they'd like to see Smash included into the lineup, and have opted to host the Smash portion. I am listing this tournament on Smashboards in an attempt to rally interest for the tournament. If we get as few as EIGHT people with interest, we will run the tournament, guaranteed.

Featured Game:

Tekken 5 : Dark Resurrection ($100 bonus to out of stater who can take 1st)

Other Games:

Virtua Fighter 5
Tekken 5.0

Possible games depending on interest:

Street Fighter 3:Third Strike
Guilty Gear X2#Slash
Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Capcom Vs SNK 2
Super Smash Bros Melee

2v2 Tournament for Smash depends on interest. We'll have plenty of time.

Registration Time: 11AM, Tourney Start between 12PM-1PM
Venue Fee: $10
Entry per tournament: $10

In order to get a game moved from 'Possible' to a 'Guaranteed' game, I will need at least '8' people to pre-register for that game.

Depending on turnout, extra venue fee $ collected will be put into bonus pots for the games with the highest turnout. So if you want your favorite game to have a huge turnout, get your friends involved.

We WILL need people to bring TV's, Consoles, Games. Bring Your Own Controller/Adapters. If someone brings a Console and games, I'll take $5 off your venue fee, if someone brings a PS3 and or TV, I will waive your entire venue fee.

If you can bring a TV/Console/Games/Setups, please post that as well. We'll need quite a few of them to make things move quickly and efficiently.

If you're interested in hosting a tournament, (Taking the reigns on hosting the game you are most interested in/familiar with) also post that up. I'll be hosting the Tekken tournaments, but I'll need someone who is involved in the competitive community of another game to handle those.

REGARDING PRE-REGISTRATION

Put your name on this thread in this format:
Name and or Alias, City, State, What games you'll compete in.
Example: AxioM, Kansas City/KS, T5: DR, T5.0

Preregistering will make the game you want played more likely to be played, and will give us better idea on how many TV's/Consoles we need, and if there is enough interest, I'll consider getting catering done. There's also about half a dozen places to eat within walking distance of the tournament site.

If the turnout to this is good, this will begin to be a monthly ordeal. I'll be putting this up on a few other sites to check interest in the different games, and I'll update the thread as people register, and things change.

This will be our FIRST monthly, so the frequency of these tournaments depends on the communities support. Thanks all, start the HYPE.

Yeah, the event will be held in a large event hall at a hotel, so there will be no arcade machines around.

A yo this could be preety tight if enough peeps get into it. The only prob that I see and have experienced is that most smash players at least midwest ones are only good at one game smash. So a big tourny like this that is puting alot on other fighting games may not excite them as much. But I need to get some work done in tekken cause I'm still not quite up to par yet

Yeah, I understand that. It's hard to get Smash players together with the other fighting game players because normally Smash is individual to itself. However, in this case, I rented a room that can comfortably house 70 attendees if need be, and there will be ample space for each group to do their thing.

It's like this, if the Smash players want to come out, the game is available, it's there, I just want to know who's actually GOING to come. I want every game to have good representation so everyone is happy.

I don't see this tournament being big right off the bat, but the potential is there, especially if people show interest and spread the word. The more people that show up to this first one, the more motivated I'm going to be to put up more of my own money for prizes and bonuses/go out and do the work to get sponsorship. It's kind of a risk vs reward investment.

If the showing is successful, I'll work my *** off to make sure that there is bigger/more prizes. Simple as that.
