Smash 3DS 3DS Play Coins and Smash Bros.

I never even knew play coins were a thing until I played New Leaf, and how little of a thing they are, I do enjoy the concept of them. Does anybody think Smash will use Play Coins in any way? Could be for tiny cosmetics such as different hats for Mario or a different cape for Marth. The 3DS and Wii U connectivity still has yet to be detailed, so maybe they could be taken advantage of there? I'd like to know others thoughts on if Play Coins should be a thing or not.

Kid Icarus used Play Coins for Trophy lottery so I guess Smash could have same feature. It's a bit lazy but I also dislike huge Play Coins unlockables (like in Shinobi, where some levels cost 20 or 30 coins) because of the 10 coins per day cap.

I don't really agree with things costing over 10 coins, taking more than a day (through legitimate means) to buy one item is not fun at all. I want them to take some role, but I don't think it should be as huge as having to work months for it all :3.

I'd say Sakurai brings back Melee's trophy shot-game-thingy, and you use the coins there. Maybe using a play coin give you a better chance of getting a rare trophy.

I'd rather unlock trophies through game-play, but I wouldn't be opposed to play coins being used for that. Honestly can't think of any type of unlockable that would bug me any less, so it'd kinda have to be trophies.

I'm guessing something similar to puzzle swap, where for 2 coins you can get a random trophy (though not achievement, character, and final smash trophies)

My guess is that Play Coins will likely be exchanged for in-game coins so you can unlock trophies faster, however in-game coins happen to be used. I also like CardiganBoy's idea. If challenges return, I could see exchanging Play Coin amounts to unlock harder challenges or in exchange for hammers to forcibly open them.

I wouldn't mind if you could use play coins to buy trophies that can also be obtained by playing the game, as I don't take my 3DS out with me.

I forgot the coin limit. Let's make it 300 coins per character and to play them! But anyways, I assume Sakurai will make it to where you can try to get trophies with coins (idol toss in KI:U).

It doesn't just have to be for trophy use. The Wii U/3DS connectivity has yet to be informed of what exactly it is, and I think Play Coins could play a role in it. Maybe say unlock a "Ghost Cap" for Mario that makes him capless. You could then equip it, bring it over to the Wii U, and play as Capless Mario.

Just a reminder that 3DS stages only have 2 songs each, max. Not to say some stages might have unlockable songs, but most probably won't.
