Should the 3DS version even have existed?

So Ice Climbers were planned again but scrapped because the 3DS couldn't run it. What the hell? What other original, possible characters were scrapped for to pander to the 3DS version? I still have a deep feeling in my soul that the 3DS version shouldn't have existed and only the Wii u should've been a thing because tradition ya know.

But the fact a character got SCRAPPED because the 3DS couldn't run it but Wii U can and we NEED identical rosters...This is just complete nonsense. I really honestly can say I feel the 3DS one screwed the Wii U in the end. Smash Run, Scrapped characters (And potentially others we know nothing about) and incomplete stage choices due to separations on console. In my opinion it's ridiculous. I do plan to buy the 3DS and the Wii U one, but I just personally feel the 3DS one didn't need to be a thing.

You're free to agree or disagree, it's just my personal opinion.

Well, originally, the game was only supposed to be released on the 3DS.

I agree it's a questionable decision, but I also understand why Sakurai wanted both versions to share rosters.

Also, please don't let this thread become nothing but bashing the 3DS version. Just a friendly remainder.

The fact that Sakurai had to make the roster the same, even in the case of things like the ic, hindered the game. Like I'm sure 3ds users will be understanding, if you can't have it you can't have it.

I honestly don't want it to turn into a bashing which is why I put so much personal emphasis and wrote it in a calm way. I can see why the 3DS version exists, I'm buying it myself, I just felt it shouldn't have limited the Wii U one.

I would've been fine with just a Wii U version (that would be preferable to only 3DS).

But I do have to say if they basically had the ICs running on the Wii U (assuming the bulk of the work was done already), just make it a Wii U exclusive.

3DS-only owners would probably mostly be ok with it because it's due to hardware. And the ones who get salty can just cry about it, because why would they want to prevent Wii U owners from having a character just because it couldn't run on the 3DS?

Personally I'm ok with this since I never played as the ICs anyway, but it still seems pointless to cut them from the Wii U version if they were close to finished...

Nintendo's got me with them releasing the demo version first (meaning the 3DS version.) What I'm really excited for is November 21st when the Wii U version comes out though.

A lot of people are excited for the Wii U one. I've been watching Smash streams constantly and I hear all the time "When the Wii U one comes out I'm dropping this one" lol.
