360 controller

Hey. I have a USB 360 controller and Windows XP but it is not regognizing the controller. This is the official microsoft controller. Any ideas on how to get it to work. Like what drivers, or whatever. Appreciate all help. Thanks.

It is a normal 360 controller that came with the system that has a USB adapter if that makes a difference. I am a noob sorry.

when i first put mine in, my computer just ran a "new hardware" wizard, i went through that and now it recognizes it.
