Sarki Soliloquy
Smash Champion
The New Year of 2015 is upon us. That time of year has come where people begin to review all that has happened and reflect upon all they have done in our current year, 2014. A new set of twelves brings a chunky measure of time waiting to be expended. So it's up to us to predetermine how we'll use it to improve our lives.
Smashers, what New Years Resolutions do you have for 2015? Oh, but before you get started, here's a common pitfall that brings most New Years Resolutions to failure! Make sure your resolution is a measurable, specific goal.
Ex.: "I want to get more competitive in Smash Bros."
This goal addresses a long-term outcome. But its worded to sound like a hope. There's no tangible steps outlined. For you to reach this long-term goal, you must build up to it with short-term ones. Here, lemme fix that one up for you:
Ex.: "I will train with Fox online once a day until the local Smashfest happens next month."
The goal is now in a measurable reach with a location (local Smashfest) and a timeslot (next month, 30/31 days). Also, the object you'll use to make that goal is specified (Fox). Unlike listing the bigger whole of it. (Smash Bros.)
You don't have to outline your goals exactly like that one. But keep in mind the elements that make it measurable and specific. If you have trouble outlining your goals from a broad statement, come up with these and it should look easier to you. Also, I'd recommend making a journal of sorts to monitor your progress as you complete your goals to further ones closer to your long-term outcome.
Now, I'll go ahead with mine:

Now, I'll go ahead with mine:
- I want to encourage myself to be more confident by the end of the year through being more optimistic and not caring about what I'm doing or what I want with unfamiliar places and people.
- I want to work out of my social awkwardness by the end of the year by getting my mind used to recognizing its symptoms, then adjusting myself to my situation.
- I want to develop a solid grasp of advanced techniques and reads in Super Smash Bros. 4 before Smash 4 Worldwide in 4 weeks by practicing with CPU and online rivals daily.
- I want to put out at least 1 drawing on Miiverse a week.
- I want to compile all my story elements for an original novel to the point where I can pilot oneshots through research and philosophical development.
- I want to premiere my Super Smash Bros. fanfic to FanFiction.Net by getting 1 chapter of my first arc done once a month to the arc's completion.
- I want to practice drawing human anatomy and grasp my art fundamentals at least once a week.
- I want to learn the fundamentals of Autodesk Maya at least once a week.
