Bayonetta's "weakpoint" is her landing lag. She can do a ton of actions in the air but she has to land eventually, and when she does that's supposed to be your window to punish. Many unskilled Bayo's get punished for free, but seasoned Bayo's are great at retreating, planking the ledge and overall making getting that landing punish as complicated as possible.

Bullet Climax and Bullet Artes in general are extremely… Cheeky if you will. I guess that's how those moves were designed to be as that's the type of gal Bayonetta is.

Climax - The rapid amount of projectiles she shoots and the sheer damage it can deal is crazy. It almost always forces you to shield and respect it or just duck under from a distance until it's over.
Chike
Chike
It's also crazy good at shield poking since it drains your shield so quickly. And the angle it fires at forms a ceiling of hitboxes that you pretty much cannot pass.

Reflecting also doesn't work well since it will just be cancelled very quickly by the succeeding bullet. Attacking the bullets directly with a lingering hitbox also doesn't seem to work well as eventually the bullets just seem to hit through you regardless of if your move was actually finished or not.

And to top it off, the charge that can be cancelled instantly or fired for extra damage and kill power. It just makes it all the more irritating to deal with off stage and when you're trapped at the ledge.

Artes - At first I didn't think much of them. It's just 5-10 extra damage and it takes awhile to rack up so it seemed negligible. But, to a point, I was wrong.

The Bullet Artes actually deal hitstun like Falco lasers and push you backwards if you get close to them. This just seems like something meant to aggravate you when you try to punish a bad forward smash, but Bayo chooses to hold it out for the bullet extension.
Chike
Chike
And the fact that they're literally scattered everywhere throughout Bayo's moveset allows her to play very lame once she gets the percent lead. Like, VERY lame.
Chike
Chike
Bat Within is also annoying. It's just a way of saying you would've gotten the punish, but you're fighting Bayo so no.
Chike
Chike
And can we talk for a second on how Bayo seemed to be intangible throughout the whole animation? She also seems to be fully intangible once Witch Time is activated for about a whole second AFTER her backflip animation is finished, effectively allowing her to avoid any other possible hitboxes or projectiles in the midst of all the chaos.
Chike
Chike
She also has good speed and mobility so it can be very hard to hit her IN ADDITION to all her many defensive and evasive maneuvers.
Chike
Chike
And lastly, her smash attacks. They all have pretty ridiculous range when compared to the rest of the cast besides maybe Corrin.
Chike
Chike
The only time they're really guaranteed to use for a punish is usually after a Witch Time but with something that has THAT massive of range, you can bet it's good for covering landings.
Chike
Chike
And although it's not rocket science to avoid her down smash, why is it that Bayonetta has a smash attack (a SMASH ATTACK) that meteors opponents? That's never been heard of until she was added to Sm4sh. Ever.
Chike
Chike
I mean there's Ness' down smash which sends you at an awful semispike angle, and Jigglypuff's down smash which has no vertical knockback at all, but Bayo is the first character in all of Smash Bros. (since 1999) to EVER have a SMASH ATTACK that METEOR SMASHES.
Chike
Chike
Sometimes you have to recover high cause you know Bayo can shut you out downlow, but then you remember "oh, this character has a smash attack (which reaches up about 10 feet high) that METEOR SMASHES." So it's like you're screwed if you do and you're screwed if you don't.

Did I mention she has a kill throw? Cause she has a kill throw. Two actually, if you count down throw. It's one of those throws that's not a super strong KO option but if you're living too long and forward throw is stale, it'll bring you back to reality.

Down air is extremely powerful. Both the meteor and the landing hitboxes. The former capable of killing at 10% and the latter killing around 70-90%.
Chike

Forward air combo is a thing now. And it's a pretty powerful thing. Not only can it carry you right into the horizontal blast zone, it can also be used to kill you off the top as a finisher for her Witch Twist series.
