You being a graphics artist is SO cool. :3 I usually find my avatars mainly on Pixiv or tumblr because they have some quality fanarts. :'D I then open the chosen image on Photoshop (I use CS4) and make a few adjustments such as playing around with the curves and selective colour. :3

With the transparency, I usually use the pen tool and go around the outline of what I want in order to remove the background if that makes sense. Sometimes I add an outline if necessary. :3

I've been doing graphics for 3 or 4 years now but kinda stopped for a while. And thank you, that sounds so easy! Finding good quality avatars that aren't 100x100 are hard to find, I swear xD

And hdkadjkhd I'm glad it helped you! I usually use any image and crop them, mainly focusing on the character's face and then resize it to 150x210 or 150x150 if I'm feeling a more smaller avatar. :3

Man, I didn't get to watch EVO at all! I was preparing for my beach trip and I'm at the beach currently. :3 And I'm doing wonderful since I'm on vacation! ^__^

I do yes. I like making graphics for other people so I kinda wanted to open a shop here but it's not too active D: Yea, I have to resort to cropping too but I prefer the avatars that others make because they look better than mine xD
