If you catch someone at SH height, they either get hit, or dodge into the ground for a usmash because it autocancels. How is that fair?

That's also one of its main advantages. Not only is it easy to set up into, but it also sets up for a u-smash/or any attack. It's also Fox's only decent edgeguarding tool other than n-air. I still think n-air is Fox's best aerial but b-air is amazing also.

Nair is good, but BAir as a kill move/trap is just ridiculous. Especially for characters with meh horizontal recovery (Mega).
I've killed myself a lot trying to BAir offstage only to have the endlag kill me, so at least it's not that ridiculous.
I thought he was kicking instead of flipping his tail with the uair until vanilla pointed it out.

I use n-air for a lot of things. Front-hitting aerial, approaching/baiting, mid-range (because it's one of Fox's only options because his approach is meh), combo-starter.... eh I could go on about it so whatever. B-air is definitely dumb but the stand out move for Fox is JAB.

Don't get me started. After playing characters with awful jabs, it is a huge selling point for me. Being able to 1-2 into stuff feels like cheating for such a low commitment move. I'm going to a smashfest thing on Wednesday and planning to play Fox whenever someone isn't asking me for MU experience with mega... Even though I have only seriously spent 1 day with him (yesterday)

Not only is it a great set up for a KO, you can use it to keep racking up damage. I think (not sure how the system works) you can actually exploit the stale-negation system with this. Just keep jabbing so that your next move will be fresh. It's pretty dumb. Lol.

Lol. And jab1 runaway is an option that is often unpunished on block. Just dash>shield away and you reset to neutral. His pummel is fast to keep things fresh too. Jabs, utilts, grabs, lasers... Racks up damage like nobody's business. I saw you put Pika #1 instead of Fox when you were on that Fox #3 pre-patch train. I don't have a solid list myself, but I am curious.

Because Fox has maybe 1 legit bad match up and that's Luigi. Pikachu's bad MU's were nerfed so it makes sense

I'm not really SOLD on Fox having a tough time against Luigi at all. I really want to put Fox as 1 along with Pika-pi

That's legit. Mega + Fox is sounding better and better as I keep thinking about it. It's almost as if I've heard of that before. :um: my utilt stuff feeds quite nicely into Fox's usmash stuff and I'm not too bothered by high end lag smashes.

I have trouble putting the mouse up at #1 with a lack of play at high level. While QA is dumb along with his edge guarding, he's never felt unfair both in my limited watching/playing and when I look at his moveset. I trust everyone who hypes him, but only to a point.

The theories do point to Pika being the best but I need more proof and actual representation. Otherwise, I'll be forced to put Fox on number 1 which I have no issues with because of that meguhFax kid

As for Sheik (off-topic but eh), I'm so sure she can't be the best. Top 3 definitely, top 5 at worst but her problems with KO'ing.... can't be ignored this time. At all.

Loss of ledge trump BAir kills is gonna hurt her a lot. That's one of my favorite ways to close stocks. Outside of BAir, she has very little KO pressure in neutral, and those moves that do KO are super punishable. Timing people out is hard with a charge projectile that does so little damage. The top player in Seattle plays Sheik, so I'm curious to see what he does with her.

Sheik could still be the best because of how important the neutral game is... but she's definitely worse than what she used to be.

Sheik mains in my area made it into top 8 or 16 (probably 16 iirc) for a grand circuit but they got eliminated at first round instantly because of the b-air nerf. It's going to be rough if your KO's are purely from situational set ups.

Sheik took 1st at the tourney I was just at. Gimping is still very much a thing.

Also, I'm dropping Fox temporarily.

Yeah. I may have been to early on calling out Sheik again. Then again, TGC.... HMM....
