In all fairness the only Sega characters you could hatch were Sonic Team characters specifically.
Billy Hatcher being made by Sonic Team too meant they could freely use Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, NiGHTS, Rappy(they made Phantasy Star Online), KapuKapu(ChuChu Rocket) and Amigo but not the likes of say...AiAi, Opa-Opa, Alex Kidd or Akira Yuki.
Now if Platinum makes the sequel...
