overall pace of the game and giant buffs to his base kit

Why? Melee Roy was sort of rush job for a clone that left him unfortunately undertuned and outright broken even in some aspects, (his dash attack hitbox, or lack of one is a famous example). Plus the whole sweetspot up close sourspot on tips makes it hard for him to do the usual sword stuff.

PM, I didn't/haven't played too much of so I don't really know what happened there. I remember thinking he seemed fine to me when I played, but the current tier list has him in a not great spot so I guess I don't know then.

S4, I always thought he was better than the usual opinion but he really struggled to get the kill sometimes and that coupled with poor disadvantage tended to make him lose the attrition game. Jab didn't give it's super strong kill combos either.

And then Ult fixed that by turning his kill power up on everything to 11. Plus the "mashier" nature of the game helped him by making his hitbox design work better instead of hurting him. db consistency and actually working helps too, was really bad before. other misc stuff got buffed too.

sort of short version/lacking nuance and depth but that's how I see it.

I honestly think he is very underrated in Smash 4, people do believe he will rise in the future, but never say never I guess. :/

Roy's in brawl minus? This is ... new to me

like I'd like to be able to say more here but I literally just found out right now, so, yeah. Sounds like a cool idea, though?
