Building a true successor to Melee

Glad someone said these, I tried to weasel it in my post, but then deleted and forgot, but here are some videos I wanted to accompany those points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FpigqfcvlM&feature=youtu.be&t=6m24s http://youtu.be/SEIyN5Lubsc?t=10m10s

Building a true successor to Melee

I'd be happy for any new developer making any game who has the full intent of making a 'good game'. Onto being skeptical. I used to love the idea of adding elements of different games, but with each addition comes a group of people who will find the new addition tedious...

    How to practice properly alone?

Realize it's only practice. All you can really do is practice inputs and learn hitboxes. 20XX also helps with practicing, but If you have 20XX, you have a computer fully capable of emulating; Having that much begs you to give netplay a shot.

New fun game modes you created in Melee!

SSD, 2.0 damage ratio, all items are bombs, Luigi taunt only.

    Interesting thing about dashes

What you can get away with against people is determined solely by the player. It will work on some On the note of "useful" bairs, they must be compared their other air attacks, and weighed with risk and reward.

    Interesting thing about dashes

I may have voted a bit hastily, should've gone for "Entirely situational." Not entirely useless, along it's own execution path it has to be justified over. Dash dancing/Pivoting/Moonwalking All jump cancelling options out of the initial dash Shield cancelling out of the initial dash So the...

fox not best character in melee

Kirby take gun. Lasers Fox only dream of.

    Let's define Offense

Offense is when you're in a position that opponent's best hope is to reset the game to neutral, a good one anyway.

Tap Jump gets a bad rap.

If you find a way to do something without flaws or drawbacks that lose the game, go for it. I personally just like having a jump button, used to hate 2D fighters for up being the jump input.

    First time being recorded.

I'm no too familiar with playing Sheik, I can't provide much insight there. It looked like you were running in the entire time, with the lack of shielding or feigning anything left SH out of shield a safe option for him. During your second to last stock, you went for a Bair ledge guard...

    Flexible Set Lengths

Not dismissing this as a bad idea, but something that could come up, in the second game, the loser of the first, no matter the margin, now has to win three games while the winner only has to win this one. On the winner side, the second game can potentially used to relax a bit. Could be pretty...

    How to counter shield-grab?

SHFFL into Shine or Sidestep won't get grabbed with the general insta-timing people tend to use, but requires some dedication to pull off regularly. If they predict said action, it's possible to punish, but this sounds like a playing with friends scenario. If you wanted to stay more simple with...

How long did it take you to be able to wavedash L-cancel etc. consistantly

Pulling them off as an input in training modes time is based on your desire to learn to do so, people who want to be capable will practice more. Playing games in general also helps with inputs. It's really just controlling your hands. Now when it comes to a real match and application, playing...

    Is smash really growing?

Just going off the event calendar for this month this year vs. last, it's more abundant. Might just be the anticipation of SSB4. As for whether it will continue to grow, that depends on players not quitting, SSB4 may pull players away from Melee as Brawl didn't seem able to do.
