    Official Competitive Character Impressions 2.0

Considering the current meta, the nerfs to Pichu were both unjustified and unnecessary. Well those debates has less to do with competitive balance and more about whether or not keeping the veteran moveset mostly the same goes against one of the aims of Smash to represent characters faithfully...

Roy differs from other Fire Emblem protagonists by the fact his father is not dead in his game. Lilina on the other hand had blue hair and a dead father.

Redesigning Ike (but keeping him the same)

I find this Ike redesign interesting. Replacing his Smash Attacks with Urvan is a great idea. As for his blade beam, one idea I thought of was to implement it as a slow-moving but powerful Down B projectile that Ike could charge up, but your idea of making it an extension of Counter is also...

The Octolings are a common choice when it comes to discussions of future Echo Fighters, but considering how successful both Splatoon 2 and 3 are, selling around 13.6 and 11.7 million copies respectively, I can see them being playable semi-clone characters in the next Smash game.

As far as missing Nintendo characters in Smash, Toad is the strangest omission. But will he ever be playable in a Smash game?

For a character that was a pretty prominent part of the plot of Fire Emblem 1 (and its remake Shadow Dragon), Malledus (this guy) doesn’t really get talked about that much. He has far more screen time than any of the playable characters in Shadow Dragon with the natural exception of Marth.

Melee was released in the same year the GameCube launched, 2001. Brawl was originally going to release in 2007 before being delayed, and the Wii launched in 2006. Smash Ultimate released a year after the Switch launched in 2017. However Smash 4 released in 2014, 2 years after the Wii U launched...

When is an Echo Fighter not an Echo Fighter? (Discussion thread)

Different animations do matter in terms of hitboxes, so reused animations would lead to more identical hitboxes.

When is an Echo Fighter not an Echo Fighter? (Discussion thread)

Definitely not. Ken’s moveset differences from Ryu are: held neutral A, held forward tilt, forward smash, neutral aerial, back aerial, back throw, his two Final Smashes and two unique command input attacks. Dr. Mario only has three different moves from Mario: down B, down aerial and back throw...

When is an Echo Fighter not an Echo Fighter? (Discussion thread)

With :ultken:, it was completely arbitrary. There is no reason why he couldn’t have been a non-Echo as he is about as different as Dr. Mario and unlike the other Echo Fighters, balancing and testing Ken would absolutely not just be against the original.

@Jotadé considering the sheer popularity of Smash, its online fanbase is going to include a lot of people that have no affiliation with the fighting game community. The only reason :ultryu: didn’t get accused of being Karate Mac is due to just how famous he is.
