Social "This is a good result!" - Shulk Discussion & Social Thread

I worry that momentum carrying over from ground to air will allow every character to put out a hitbox in Shulk's blind spot like Diddy and Sheik can with Fair in Smash 4. If his frame data is improved, this won't be a problem, but if it's not, I think we'll end up seeing Shulk players playing...

Data Shulk's Research Notes - Shulk Data Thread

If it applies to Shulk, it wouldn't be that game changing tbh. It'd only serve to preserve the safety that Shulk had in spades in Smash 4 thanks to MALLC and shield stun. If Bair or Nair get lower landing lag, though, that'd be kinda nice. As it stands, Nair landing lag looks the same from the...

Hopefully they extend the same love to us. I don't think Art Activation iframes will exist anymore, but MALLC itself is a toss-up. It won't be quite as useful or gamebreaking either way, though.

The Future Is... Changing - Speculation Thread

Agreed that it's too early to be discussing tiers, especially in a vacuum. My point still stands that I feel Shulk will struggle somewhat more in Neutral thanks to the momentum carry over, though the dash mechanics willI certainly help a lot. One thing I just realized... It's likely the Dial...

The Future Is... Changing - Speculation Thread

Grounded mobility changes are going to be a boon and a curse for Shulk. It will make it significantly easier to whiff punish (which may force quick retreats and defensive options from us if we swing too early with a lagless high-startup move), but it will also significantly improve our ground...

    Hello, old friends =)

I loved Zard in PM, but I didn't like how stiff Zard felt in Smash 4. We got more versatility and iframe switches now, though? I think I'll give PT a serious shot as a secondary this time around.

Data Shulk's Research Notes - Shulk Data Thread

It does, but it's significantly slower and clunkier, as the next frame takes half a second to load on YouTube while it's instant on Gfycat. Or, at least it is on my computer... Monado Art Cycle activation now occurs on frame 30 (instead of frame 45), as seen in the Direct.

You can use both. Cycling will be better for setting up Arts half a second in advance, while using the directional dial will be useful for in the moment switches. If nothing else, I think this will make Shulk significantly more accessible.

The Future Is... Changing - Speculation Thread

I certainly hope we're not stuck in it. Thankfully, I don't think it's the case, but I suppose we'll cross that bridge when we get there. I can imagine that the developers are still experimenting with what direction they want to take the Dial, as we can see from the fact that the Art Pose has...

    The ideal patch: Monado Boy

Oh lord almighty, you're looking to break Shulk here. Be careful what you wish for, cause the changes you're proposing will make Shulk potentially broken. Let's go down the list. Everything unmentioned is either decent or unnecessary but not busted. Welcome Changes: Any Aerial autocancel buff...

Paradigm and Erico Investigate Shulk's Optimal Control Scheme

It also helps when performing things like Buster Nair > Buffer Deactivation > Fsmash. The input becomes B B B+A instead of B B B A+Forward or B B B CstickForward.

Paradigm and Erico Investigate Shulk's Optimal Control Scheme

Despite the final result of this video, I absolutely swear by Special trigger. It feels so much more intuitive to me than Jump trigger. If I had a controller like the Hori Battle Pad with Digital triggers instead of Analog, though, Jump trigger would probably feel good. At least there, I would...

    Submission Request: We Love Smash!

I'm assuming by "Art" you mean visual art / drawings. I would have been super down to try to make a musical composition or arrangement, but imma probably have sit on that one for now. Here's hoping for a great collective!

What are the applications of Mario's f-tilt and d-tilt?

I've heard that dtilt is a good option for catching landings, since the hitbox sticks out covering a good portion of the ground and it's very safe, moreso than a grab. It also leads into a grab, utilt, or uair depending on your rage or your opponent's %. Besides this, I've had some success with...
