How do I stay motivated to play Falco?

With Melee, a big part of what keeps me motivated to play the game is how much fun it can be to play with other people in an offline setting. Before I picked up Smash, I tried to become competitively good in Tekken, and because there was no offline scene nearby, I had to settle with online...

    OOS as Falco

This is the most important thing to consider when you find yourself stuck in shield a lot. I feel like this is overlooked a lot by people who are just starting out. ask yourself more why you got in that bad position in the first place. Being in shield is a very big disadvantage in Smash. Knowing...

    PPMD's Falco Discussion Thread

I'd like to add that wavelanding onto a platform is also decent to regain momentum in the ditto. If you read their approach and you waveland onto a platform, it leaves them in an awkward position. You might catch them offguard and land with a DAir to start your own combo.

What is your signature move/style with Falco?

it's a lame joke. I was at some dude's house and they were discussing how everything is considered an advanced technique and needs to have a name. So I decided to develop my own "advanced technique", namely the stock cancel, which involves randomly Side B'ing off the stage. Now that I think...

What is your signature move/style with Falco?

Somebody called me a BAir ***** and that I should play Jigglypuff instead of Falco, lol. I also use UAir for combo's a lot, but I kinda think it sucks against people who DI properly :/. But my signature move would be the Side B stock-cancel. I cancel my own stock by Side-B'ing of the stage

Please give me tips on my falco :) (video)

(Only saw the FD match) DAir shine and DAir UTilt are good combo options. You never really went for extended DAir shine strings. Like, you hit a really nice DAir shine at low percentage, but tried to go for shine BAir for some reason... If you can't combo a Falcon on FD properly, you need to hit...

    Answers to these anti-Falco playstyles?

Baiting is definitely the way to go with Falco in general. Falco can force reactions out of players, and punishing them hard for these reactions is what will make a Falco scary. And once you have your opponent scared, you can pressure them to death.

    Answers to these anti-Falco playstyles?

Very helpful and practical advice. OP should definitely read this. I don't necessarily agree with MewtwoForce, for the simple fact that this playstyle will not help you against good space animals and you will get destroyed for being too passive. You shouldn't base your game around trying to...

    PPMD's Falco Discussion Thread

Falcon should be heavily in your favour. If you keep lasering him when he's on the ground and challenge his approaches with UTilts, BAirs and NAirs you should not even get hit all too much. Falcon can destroy Falco off of a grab if he's decent at tech-chasing. On the other hand, Falco can and...

How do I win neutral more often?

It works with Fox because people can't react to a dashdancing Fox running up to them. Falco misses this kind of mobility and needs to cover his approaches with a laser. I'm sorry, it seems more like an unnecessarily risky gimmick to me. Why would you run in with his very slow run speed, when you...

    Falco/Peach matchup advice?

@NJzFinest Well, I mean the variant that's also safe against shieldgrabs. High aerials will always be punishable, but a medium height NAir and slightly late DAir l-cancelled into shine will work against NAir OoS. You don't have to do your aerials particularly late to beat out the NAir OoS is...

    Falco/Peach matchup advice?

@NJzFinest Do you have 20xx? You can set the Peach to do NAir OoS on the first frame possible, and aerial l-cancel shine is still very much a possibility. She also can't NAir out of shinegrab and double shine... If you're getting NAired out of your pressure, you messed up somewhere.

    Critique?

NAir is safer because it has less landing lag when l-cancelled, giving you more frame advantage than an l-cancelled DAir, making it impossible to grab you inbetween the aerial and the shine when done correctly. This will also work with DAir, but you have to do the DAir fairly late on their...

How do I win neutral more often?

Dude, have you even seen Falco run? Chances are you're getting hit in the face if you try to run at someone just like that with Falco. Shine itself might be safe, but just running at them is not.
