Maybe the Chorus Men are there because that "Glee Club" mini-game from the Rhythm Heaven series is just a very popular game. Karate Joe is also a trophy, and his game's also pretty popular. Makes me anxious about collecting them all when I finally get the game!

I doubt Proto Man will be a playable character. If anything, he'll be an alternate costume, like Alph or the Koopalings.
