Shrine Maiden of Paradise ~ Reimu Hakurei (Touhou Project)

Alternatively, it's just a humble way of saying "it's probably not gonna be your favorite, but we can't please everyone," regardless of their popularity's reach.

Shrine Maiden of Paradise ~ Reimu Hakurei (Touhou Project)

Now, that does mean it should be someone less known worldwide, someone less mainstream. The statement seems to be tempering everyone's expectations for someone ultra popular, so that's good for Reimu's chances. But as always, don't expect too much. Instead, be pleasantly surprised should we be...

Man, it's been one heck of a ride. Was super fun just hanging out and nerding out about Touhou. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

The small ones were handed out to Lost Word players in Japan for free for logging in a bunch last year. You could get Reimu, Marisa or Youmu, selected at random. Got the Reimu myself through borrowing a friend's address.

Haha, yeah. Thanks! It is a bit of a Superman disguise, but I prefer to stay undercover. Very nice! I am a big fan of the Tempest fangame, and 17.5 feels at least remotely similar, so I'm real heckin' excited. Oh, now there's some spicy news! ZUN's new art looks fantastic.

Hey, thanks for plugging that. Hope we didn't disappoint.

Shrine Maiden of Paradise ~ Reimu Hakurei (Touhou Project)

Not too far-fetched. In, uhh, Double Dealing Character (14), Reimu happens to have a spell card attack where she whacks a giant gohei (or maybe an oonusa) side to side for a few seconds, clearing anything it hits. In the relatively bizarre first entry, Reimu can use the stick to clear smaller...

Touhou 16 had that one seasonal barrier ability that allows absorbing bullets for a second. I think it was Autumn that gave a massive speed boost and stayed on the player.

Aside from conventions and resellers over at international stores like eBay and Amazon, there are some Japan-only stores you can order from, typically via proxies that order things for you. Good choice. My first was Youmu that I got shortly before prices skyrocketed. I've since fallen into the...

Possibly something like Folklore, given Touhou's subject matter. I think I've heard that code name in some supposed leak, probably one that's been proven wrong already.

In my experience, the generic enemy hitboxes are a little inconsistent so grazing can be really tricky, and trying to jump over some enemies, inside and outside of time stop, is a bit of a pain. Boss hitboxes seem a lot more consistent and lenient however.

Azure Reflections is a more forgiving bullet hell in general, it's got fun voices, plus some extra gimmicks and a lot of optional accessories to combine to make the game harder, easier, or just different. Sky Arena is a cool, fast aerial arena fighter, but, as is common with many 3D flying...

Yoiyami Dreamer and Yoiyami Dancers are currently Japanese-only. They are both cute (and hard) as heck games featuring Rumia, and most of the story in the former is non-verbal anyway. Dreamer is like some kind of Bubble Bobble/Snow Bros/Saboten Bombers arcade game. Dancers is a rhythm bullet...

Shrine Maiden of Paradise ~ Reimu Hakurei (Touhou Project)

There will always be those with their own ideal Touhou. Those who absolutely insist the series should remain underground and unknown, no matter what. I think it would be a net positive, however. The more the merrier, I say. ZUN also clearly wants to expand, just look at the Hello Kitty collab...

When I visited Akiba, this one underground Touhou-focused shop was playing Bad Apple compilation CDs all day, with nothing but remixes of the remix in different styles.
