Can anyone confirm the length Pac-Man's hydrant stays in the Wii U version? It feels like it stays longer in the Wii U version.

OP is a buzzword thrown around too much. Diddy's Uair is very strong, but other than that he is just a very good character. If there even is an OP character, it's still early, and would probably be patched. The game is pretty balanced really.

Ever since I first saw gameplay of him I thought "I want to play Pac-Man." Something about his style looked very fun to play.

I'll say Pac-Man. He has so many tools with the Bonus Fruit, Hydrant water, and trampoline. Especially the fruit which can adapt to a multitude of situations.

Looking at some of these suggestions. Sweeping changes to the gameplay won't happen I think.

I actually appreciate the 3DS version more with the Wii U version out. It means I can pretty much carry the game around with me. (I like Smash Run as well.)
