I go with this strategy as well but I avoid characters with counters like Shulk and Marth at all costs, even if it's just a one and one with them. If you do get stuck with an eight person battle or teams, just stay out of the middle of it and let the CPU do as much of the work as possible for you.

After trying lots of different builds for strong heavy characters and counter characters, I finally just went with this advice and beat the 9.0 challenges. Used Captain Falcon (who I think is my best character) and added customs. Ended up with Attack +154, Defense +10, Speed -37 Equipment...

I think I remember reading an in game tip on a loading screen that using the metal blade as an item (throwing it into the ground and picking it up to use) does more damage than just throwing it as a standard b special move.

He still slides with the dash grab, yes. You can get him to slide over the edge with the opponent?

After playing more, I think it's safe to say that Captain Falcon is almost completely the same. The only confirmed thing I can see now is the tilt walking. One more thing to look at if any of you want to: Captain falcon has a lot of momentum when he dash grabs someone and this used to carry you...

Use your short hops to make your opponent guess what you're going to do next. Make them try coming to you once in a while (assuming you aren't fighting a projectile character). Throw out some tilts for spacing and use the gentleman (A, A, A). :4falcon:
